10 On Tuesday-My 10 Favourite Magazines

My girl Karli over at September Farm is starting a new link up every Tuesday called 10 On Tuesday. A list of 10 random things, with no explanation needed! I love to make lists :) I am not sure that I will do this every week, but I will try to link up when I remember, when I feel like it, and when I think of 10 random things (10 favourites, 10 reasons why I like/don't like something/one, etc).

In case you haven't noticed if you follow my IG/FB feed is that I absolutely love addicted to magazines. I blame my mother for that one! I bring them home from the library by the truck-fulls. Just ask my hubby. I THANKFULLY don't buy the majority of them (I DO buy some..but they are mainly the weekly magazines). What better way to begin this new and fun series with my list of 10 favourite magazines!!

So...my  10 this week are my 10 favourite magazines.

1) People

2) US Weekly

3) Chatelaine (A Canadian Magazine)

4) Canadian Living

5) Redbook

6) Cosmopolitan

7) Glamour

8) Woman's World

9) HGTV (or any other home decorating magazine..Canadian House and Home, etc).

10) Pretty much any cooking magazine (Food Network, EveryDay with Rachael Ray).

That's it!!

Ten Things of Thankful

I wasn't going to join in/up this week, not because I wasn't thankful, but b/c I didn't think that I could find anything different that I could be thankful for. Well, I realized that there were a few things that I could list...so, here goes (there will probably be a few from my Friday Post, but, who cares, right?

1. I am extremely THANKFUL that all of my family is healthy! There are a few kids that I know that have cancer, and one, is in hospice. That just breaks my heart. I actually know her gramma, so there is some connection there. I was thinking that I am so blessed that all of my close (and not so close) family are safe and healthy.

2. I am THANKFUL for great friends! I love my alone time (and yes, I DO love it!), but I am thankful for my girlfriends. We 4 (one is in the US until the end of the month) met up tonight for appies (MAJOR carb overload), and a movie. It was fun to chill and relax, have fun and laugh.

3. I am THANKFUL for/that none of my family is serving in the military. Today, hubs and I watched MAX (good movie btw), and without spilling much of the beans, it just made me realize on how blessed we are that we don't have to worry about our family fighting "over there". I AM NOT bragging..I do realize that ANYTHING can happen ANYWHERE, and especially, since my sister is in Asia, I DO worry about her....but I am thankful that we (well, most of us) are in Canada.

4. I am THANKFUL that we are free to practice our Christianity. Last Sunday, our church showed a short YT clip on the persecuted church in China, since it was Missionary Sunday, and they were talking about a couple serving over there. I know this exists EVERYWHERE, and yes, even in N. America, but I know that is far more common in other parts of the world. I am SO thankful that we can worship wherever, and whenever we want.

5. I am THANKFUL for the beautiful weather. It got to 15C yesterday, and I am sure that it to that high today. It was GORGEOUS! I am thisclose to bringing out my Capri and flip flops. Hubby has been cleaning out our yard, and getting things ready for the garden.

6. I am THANKFUL for my hubby. He did taxes, made Keichla, and got things ready for box gardening. He also took me to my dentist appointment (I was sedated, so I couldn't drive there and back). He's a good man, he is.

7. I am THANKFUL for our car. I am so blessed that we were able to get a decent car last year. It has been running great. I am thankful that it runs, and gets me to where I need to go.

8. I am THANKFUL for our library. Yes, I probably pay about $100 in fines every year (yes, I realize that I have to get better at taking things back on time), but it's cheaper than buying magazines, books, and movies! I am also THANKFUL that I can put magazines on hold through their online system.

9. I am THANKFUL that our neighbours have quietened down. They were kind of noisy, especially with their music, vibrating our walls and floors...and, when this went on for 6 hours one day, I complained to our manager, and they have been super quiet every since (except for the banging, which I don't mind as much, for some strange reason).

10. I am THANKFUL for our kitties :) They are SO sweet, and they make Anker laugh, and me roll my eyes, about 120 times a day.

10.5 I am THANKFUL that God is bigger than death! I spent last night watching a friends funeral online (yes, people do this), and she lost her battle with cancer (over 4 years), but she is in heaven, rejoicing with the angels. She served a big and awesome God, was such a wonderful person. She was my friend when lived in Regina, SK, like 100 years ago.

...........and also...if friends would stop dying on me, that'd be great (yes, there needs a be a meme about this). I have 4 people die in less than a year who I am either good friends with, or who knew very/quite well. And, my gramma nearly died, so....yah, it kind of scares me a little bit.

11. (Cause it's MY BLOG, and I do what I want, right?) I am THANKFUL for FINALLY cleaning up all of our paper junk and taxes from the last 8 years. Well, the taxes part...the other papers were from the last year. I am also THANKUL for my shredder. Best thing I bought last year.

Linking up with Christine for this wks TToT.

Make Up Saturday

I promise that I won't do this every day...or, maybe I will! Ha!! I will probably do a few posts in one, or something (like, make up wknd, or what I wore for make up this week).

So...what I wore (make-up wise) today/night was:

I am not sure why my phone took better pictures tonight. Go figure.
The foundation and mascara are the same, so I won't repeat myself...but I did wear those again.

For the eye shadow, I wore Flower  Eye shadow quad, Shadow Play Twilight Moon. I don't use all four at once (are you supposed to? That always seem too much at once for me..too much colour), but I usually use two shades. I used the bottom right as the base, and top left for add on. I just checked the quad for the individual colour names, and they weren't listed, sorry. (and FYI, they don't test on animals..yay!) For the eye liner, I used Avon Glimmersticks Midnight Blue. I find that it goes on a bit too dark (especially when I am in a hurry, like I was tonight), so, I am not sure that I would get it again, but it matched my shirt :) For the lipstick, I used Avon Tickled Pink. I find with SO MANY lipsticks, they just come off so easily. Does anyone else have this problem? I also keep make up (save for mascara) WAY too long..like years, and not months. With mascara, I usually throw it out after 6 months. Please bear in mind, that I don't wear it every day, either (i can go weeks, without wearing it).

Makeup Friday

I thought that I would maybe start doing a little weekly (or whenever I wear makeup) post on what I work makeup-wise. You know, cause I am such a diva! For someone like myself who rarely wears the stuff, I have the most make up on the planet, I am pretty sure. I DO love makeup, though...which is really odd. I just either forget to put it on, or I don't feel like...or I just don't care. Ha! I probably put it on all wrong, and I am probably terrible at choosing colours, and tones, but I sort of know what looks on me, and I know what I like as far as that I don't want to look like a gramma, but I don't want to look like a cheerleader, either (not there's anything wrong with that...lol). I get most of my make up from drugstores, or Wal-Mart, but I also get (or rather used to, when I was an Avon Distributor) through/from Avon. I also got a few things from MK. At any rate....I had to take a new picture of me for a bio for some blog posts that I will be doing, so I wanted have a little make up on.

This is what I wore (make up-wise on Friday):

**Please note...People have given me links about some of my make up products being tested on animals. I have no clue if it is true or not, and until I know for sure, I will continue using these products. So, please don't send me nasty emails about on how this line or that line tests on animals. Besides, I have NO problem with things being tested on animals, as long as they are being treated fairly, and humanely, and there is minimal/no pain caused to them.***

I am sorry that my phone is dumb and the pictures are blurry.

When it comes to foundation, I actually rarely wear it...usually because it makes me look like a corpse, and it actually feels really heavy. Well, I went to my friends house to a Mary Kay party last year, and she introduced me a one of their foundations, which I really do like. It is a bit heavy, but at least it doesn't make me look like a dead person. I got Ivory 7.

For the eye shadow, I wore Wet N Wild Cherub, which is a light (ish) pink. I love it. Most of my eye shadows are solid, but I have a few loose, and even one cream/liquid.

For the eye liner, I used Avon's Glimmersticks Diamonds Sugar Plum.

For the mascara, I used one of two that I have (yes, that is the one make up product that I only have two of!!), which is Flower Beauty, Brown Black 3-in-1 applicator. I have tried to see what the three differences are, and I really haven't found much of a difference, but I DO love on how it goes on.

For the lipstick/stain, I used Flower's Rico Mauve. I love it, but it has started doing funky things already...like melting. Ugh.

I also wore Avon's Magix Face Protector, which goes on like liquid, but then turns into powder once it's on, and it also smells nice! It is supposed to protect your face from damage...or something. LOL.

And, later on in the day, I switched it to another lipstick, another Avon  brand, but I can't tell on which one it was from my blurry picture. I will try to find it, and add it here, but I do like it. **I just checked, and it is Avon's Mauve Allura. Love it**

Here are the pictures that I took yesterday (Friday).

I actually took the orange shirt one on Thursday, and the purple shirt one Friday.

Let's Be Friends Blog Hop/Random

Yes, three posts in one day. What IS this world coming to? Ha! I wanted to link up for this weeks Let's Be Friends Blog Hop (which, until a few minutes ago, I forgot about), but I am too lazy to come up with some new material, so I thought that I would post my very first Blog Post! I hope this is ok! I just thought it would be fun for you all to see/read my EVER blog post that I did (and that wasn't even to/with Blogger..which I can't blv is still around..I refuse to switch over to BlogLovin, etc....it was to/with Facebook).

But to keep this post up with the current times....what should I write about? Hmm...I really can't think of anything...I did post about our week, so that is current. Hmm...how about some Randoms?

*I reserved/put on hold Taylor Swift's first and newest albums, so that I can compare her music from her first ever album to now. And now, I am not even a huge TS fan.

*Did you know that I am a magazine addict? No? Ha! Well, then, you haven't seen my IG/FB feed of pics. Thankfully, I get most of them from the library. Seriously, I have a problem.

*I am actually itching to get home to see the puppies my family. I usually get this way around this time of year. They also got their 22 yr old lino redone. I CANNOT wait to see it. I mean, them.

*Does anyone else think it's odd that Easter is "so early" this year? Someone else was saying that SDP and Easter being so close is throwing them for a loop. I don't have kids, am not in the school system (working, going or have kids in it), so I really haven't thought about it.. but it is "weird" weird that it's "early". And, no, I don't think it has anything to do with Leap Year, like I heard someone say on the radio.

*Speak of Leap Year/Day, did anyone do anything special? I watched Leap Year, which was a pretty cute movie. I want to buy it sometime. Come on, Walmart $5 bin!!

*I watched A Million Ways to Die in the West last night. Except for the funny sheep references, and a few funnies, it isn't worth watching.

*Does anyone else need a fan when they sleep? I actually don't need it so much as it dins out the noise sometimes. I have been having it on the last few nights.

*Did anyone else think that last weeks TBBT was disappointing? And, that there was no new episode tonight?

*Has anyone been watching Fuller House? I need some time with H, so as I can watch them. I hear they are putting out a second season.

*I am also disappointed that our local library doesn't have Full House. Again, I will have to ask A and K if I can look after H, so I can watch some episodes (which I did Valentine's Day wknd).

*Anyone else excited that DWTS is coming back on? No? Just me? Anyone else glad that Len is back? I AM!!!

*I am watching The Weather Network as I type this.

***A few more, cause I am weird and obsessive like that***(Mar 4)

*Gas is up to 99.9/l. I REFUSE to fill up when it is this high. Ugh. It was at 88.9/L for quite awhile, which was awesome.

*It is spring in BC, y'all. Well, it isn't SUPER warm every day, but most of our snow (around the Valley) is gone. Yah, the rest of Canada is jealous :)***Note....March 4 (today), it reached up to 15C in town. I went outside for a half hour, and hung out in the park, and read magazines. It was beautiful!

*I downloaded this really cool app that I didn't even know existed. I did know about the website, but I never used it, and I didn't know that there was an app. It's called Night Out, and I think it is for every major city in North America. I love it, even if I just curious as to see what's up. I downloaded another app called Get in the Loop, which is similar, but I am not super impressed with/by it, as the offers don't seem to change.

*I have just started emailing on my phone. At least with my gmail that is connected with my phone. I am not huge fan of emailing on the phone, but I can see why people do it. It is just too finicky for me (I have a small screen). Do people really do this all.day.long?

*Speaking of phones, I really should get a new one, but I don't want to, simply for the fact that I don't want to start all over again....uploading/downloaded all my apps again..signing in to everything (FB, Pinterest, IG, etc) again. Not to mention getting a new phone, and learning how to use a new one. My current phone has many issues....the battery drains in a half a day (if I am using lots, of course), the cord doesn't really connect to it very well...AND I know have to wind it AROUND the phone so that it will charge. And now, it seems that my camera phone is taking blurry pictures. Bleh. I can get a new phone for free with my provider. I really should get a new one. I would probably get the Samsung S 5 (I currently have the Samsung S 3).

*I am still waiting for my insurance company through work to give me my money back that I paid for my eye exam. It has been a month, and STILL NOTHING. It doesn't help that they told me AFTER THREE WEEKS that I needed to send the original receipt. It is just frustrating. It doesn't really want to make me go the chiropractor, or use any of the other resources/benefits that my work's insurance company offers.

*I cannot wait until God's Not Dead 2 comes out. It looks amazing!! I also want to watch Miracles from Heaven.

*I am thinking about starting up a YouTube channel. I am not sure what I would talk about, though. Probably not about infertility...maybe about make up?

This Week

Just a weekly update....or something like that...:)

Last Saturday, I texted a friend to see if she wanted to hang out in the evening, and she said yes. About a half hour later, one of the girlfriends in our church group texted saying that she was hosting dinner and a hot tub at her house, and I had to decline, but that was ok :) Saturday morning, I got up early and I made a chocolate cake, since I was, well, craving it. I had invited A and K over for lunch, and I wanted to clean up, grab a few things for lunch, and of course, make the cake. The cake tasted ok, but half of it didn't come out of their pans, so I saved it for cake pops, which didn't really turn out too well, either. So, I bought MORE cake mix, and I am hoping to make another set (since I still have a third of the cake and icing in the fridge) tomorrow. Well, my brother and his family came, and stayed for a couple of hours. They left, and I went to the library, then grabbed an Iced Tea from Starbucks, and waiting to meet up with my friend. We may or may not have gone to the local casino "for the food", and we may or may not have played the slots (which, FYI, isn't nearly as much fun since they don't have the "pully thing" anymore). It was a fun evening.

Sunday, I went to church, then to Starbucks, then I can't remember what I did. I think I just came home, and watched The Oscars, and shows on our PVR, then went to bed. A little note about the Oscars...it is the one of few awards shows that I actually watch, in full (except with maybe a bit of fast forwarding), that includes any country music awards. I think because it has to do with that it was one of the ONLY awards shows that our "peasant vision" tv got, and I think I loved all the glitz and glamour, which was why I would watch them in the first place. I also wanted to be in/at them. I told my little brother that if he ever is nominated for an Oscar (he wants to get into movies...mostly making them), that I want to be his Plus 1 :) My dad calls them "drivvel". I call them "the super bowl of the awards shows". I do watch the GG's, and the PCA's, but there is something about the Oscars. I actually kind of care that Leo "finally" won his first Oscar. I thought that Chris Rock's hosting was great (ok, I did miss the first 15 minutes of his monologue, and I DID miss the 2 or three hours of Red Carpet shows, which I watch about half the time. I am not THAT crazy that I have be glued to the tv for 8 hours EVERY year..lol). I rand a few errands (including grabbing some Sushi on the way home), before coming home around 4, then went back out to see if I could find my friend walking her dog (we were supposed to meet up, but we ended up missing each other), so I went to the park and walked for a few minutes, before heading home, and then I had my Oscar Night Fun! I made a few calls (thank goodness for PVR), and then after they were over, I watched various shows on our PVR. I thought Lady Gaga's performance was awesome!!!

Monday, I had a 9:45 appointment, then ran a few errands, and came home and relaxed in the evening.

Tuesday, I had my dentist appointment, and since I was sedated (I can't even handle my teeth being cleaned now..it hurts too much), I was out from the time we got home, until around 6.  Hubby made some keichla (picture at the bottom). I must have been out, cause I didn't hear or smell anything to jar me from my sleep until I woke up (then I could smell that something had been deep-fried) on my ow. I relaxed in the evening, and watched tv. I was still really tired, so I went to bed at 11 (early, for me).

Wednesday, I woke up at 6, and laid in bed for an hour. I got up at 7, and got my day started. I made my sad version of cake pops, and hubs started on the taxes. I went to our ladies coffee morning (where I took said sad cake pops). I went to help out a friend of a friend for a couple of hours, and I got home at around 4 and we just relaxed all evening. I have a bad habit of hanging out in our room, with my magazines, laptop and tv. I guess it's ok, but I feel like I should be hanging with hubs more.

Today (Thursday), I met my aunt for coffee, and ran uptown to return something, got my bangs cut, and went to Walmart, then came home for a bit....went back out to the library, and then grabbed supper. We watched Grey's, and I watched the new Annie, which was actually really good.

Well, that's my week (so far!). Hubby has had a good week. He has been in a good mood (for the most part), and he has been feeling pretty well. He thought he was getting sick the other night (I may or may not have given him a puke pail), but he woke up feeling fine the next morning. I am feeling super tired, and a bit out of breath today, but other than that, it has been a good week. I have a list of a few things to do tomorrow, and I hope to get them done. I DID manage to do a sink load of dishes, and a load of laundry (including folding and putting away).

This Virgin Caeser came with its own meal.

Calico "helping" me watch the Oscars. And yes, I followed along in the Cineplex's Ballot. That is on how sad I am.

This is what Anker made on Tuesday. It is called Keichla. It can either be savory or sweet. It is similar to the Mennonite bread/pastry Rollkuchen. Speaking of which I may have to try Paska this year...or better yet...make some Resurrection Buns.

My first iced tea from Starbucks of the season/year.

Friday Link Ups

Happy Thursday Night, Friends!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week! My/our week is going well, though when people ask me on how I am doing, I just kind of say "ok". LOL. But I guess things are going well....I am enjoying my time off. I seemed to be pretty busy this week....more on that in another post. Here are this wks Friday Faves:

1) Hubby did our taxes yesterday. It was a bit of an all day project, and I am SO proud of him! I know that sounds a bit demeaning, but I am saying that in the most sincere way. Since he has a brain injury, things like this can take take awhile, and especially yesterday, when it took him six hours to do it. He had it all done, and it wanted him to pay (since I made over the "free file" amount...a first for me), and we don't have a credit card, so he had to start all over again. He ended up downloading a free version of it, and to make a long story short, it took him 6 hours. And, I am getting money back! This makes us both very happy!

2) I found out today that I can put magazines on hold through our library's online system. I knew that the librarians could do that for us, but I had no clue that I could do through through my own account online. This is a game changer, y'all.

3) I caved and about two weekly mags and an HGTV magazine this afternoon. I am a bit frustrated that our library doesn't get each issue (or they get lost...or something..lol), and this includes several issues from last year (and this year, it seems), so I decided that I would buy them this week. I know, I know...missing issues are SO First World Problems, but, it IS the little things that annoy me (and that make me happy)! That being said...I am also getting Guideposts again! My aunt usually gives us a yearly subscription, and since we have moved, I wasn't getting it (to be fair, I actually forgot that it wasn't coming), and then my aunt told me that we I would be getting them again. Well, a few weeks ago, I got two issues. And yes, it does take me awhile to read through them, but I do enjoy them, and I am glad I am getting them again.

4) I got my bangs cut!. I need my entire hair cut, but it was all that I can afford. Even with just having my bangs cut, I feel like a million bucks!!

5) Since we complained to the managers over a week ago about our neighbours having their music on for 6 hours, they have been SUPER quiet (well, except for the banging, but that doesn't bother me as much). I am so happy.

Those are my faves for this week. Have a wonderful weekend!!

Random-ness (And Floods and Fires)

Y'all, I STILL can't seem to upload photos from my laptop to the blog. I am really upset. I think my laptop just needs be updated, ...
