Whatever/Wordless Wednesday (another Link up)

Yay! I love link ups!!! I found another one through Sarah @ Thank You Honey .

These ones were taken yesterday at my day at the beach adventure.

 Today's weather!

                                                          Sunset from the other day.

That's all for this week!

Sunday Social

Linking up with Ashley for this (and again, nearly LAST) weeks SS:)

1. What is your favorite genre of music?
I like all kinds of music, but country us definitely my favorite! I grew up listening to people like Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, and George Strait, and they are still some of my favorites! This answer was Ashley's but it is very similar to mine, so I thought I would keep it as my own. I also love Christian/Worship music, and light rock.
2. What is your favorite genre of movies?
I like girly romantic comedies! (Also Ashley's answer), but I also love me some suspence/drama, and even some "guy" movies. Sometimes. Oh, and also like Disney/Family Animated movies. Oh, you asked for favourite genre? Dramedy/Rom-Coms
3. Do you watch reality TV? If so what was the first show you remember watching?
Yes, I think my first was Survivor, but I haven't watched it in YEARS. I love Amazing Race/Canada
4. Who is an actress you’d want to be BFF’s with?
There are so many...Sandra Bullock seems like such an awesome lady, and I would love to baby sit lil Louis. I know she isn't an actress, but Duchess Catherine would be awesome to hang with for a day. And again, I would LOVE to baby sit George! Sandra Oh, and Ellen Pompeo would awesome, too. Also, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting.
5. Who is an actor you’d be happy to be stuck on an island with?
Hugh Jackman. Duh! George Clooney would be pretty sweet, too.

Next weeks’s questions
These are all about the important people in your life!
1. Tell us about the family you grew up in, parents, siblings, grandparents.
2. Tell us about your husband, fiancé, boyfriend, significant other.
3. Tell us about your children. If you don’t have children, talk about your fur children.
4. Tell us about your best friends. How long have you known them? How did you meet?
5. Tell us about any other special people in your life.

SUYL-Canada Day (July 1st) Traditions

I am linking up with Kelly for this (almost LAST) weeks, SUYL- 4th of July Traditions. Well, since I live in Canada, I asked her if I could share what we do for CDay, and she sweetly said yes! Because I worked all last wknd, and I am trying to do my blog posts in order, I am just now getting to this post, well, now.

Growing up, we really didn't do much for CDay.Being on a farm, and being far away from a large city, we didn't really do a whole lot. In the last few years, however, my parents have gotten more patriotic (and so has the country), so they usually do something (even if it is just flying some flags at the ranch), in recent years. As we kids have gotten older (and married), we have planned BBQ's wiener roasts, picnics, etc. Since Anker and I have been married, we usually have done something. If we are in town, we will either go down to the park and wander around, as there is/are always things going on down there, followed by (or) watching the fireworks. The last few years, we have either been camping or at the ranch.  You can read what we have done in/for previous CDay's here, here, here, here, here, and here. And this years post you can find here.

One thing that Anker and I have done nearly EVERY year that we have been together/married is get Canada Day T-shirts from SuperStore. We have skipped two years, including last year, as we didn't really have the money, and when I did go and try to find them, they were no where to be found. Another was probably we didn't get them was probably due to money.

I will try to post them in the ORDER that we bought them (if I can remember), not necessarily the year the pics were taken.
2007 (yes, I had one, too, but I wasn't wearing it in this picture).
                                                                          2008

                                                                            2010
                                                                          2011
                                                                 2012 (or 2009, not sure)
2014 (mine is to the right)

It looks like (by process of elimination) that we didn't buy tshirts for 2009 and 2013, which does seem right. Unless it was 2012 or 2013, which also kind of sounds right. I am wishing that I had written the year on the back of the tshirts. Sadly, I only have TWO left now,  due to stains, rips, and them being too small :( I had kept a few for PJ tops, but I was looking for them the other day, and I couldn't find any. Oh well.

Here are Anker's shirts. I don't remember which/what year these were...but probably 2008/09, or 08/12.

Another tradition I/we have is to watch the fireworks. Sadly, however, this was the first year I/we hadn't done that, b/c of me being VERY tired (and not being able to see them from our balcony.

I also try to wear red and white a few days prior (or over the wknd). I DO have a lot of red tshirts. Sadly, I don't have a lot white, but I do have white/cream coloured sandals and underwear, and I did wear my Canadian socks last wknd!

I also buy something patriotic it eat. This year, it involved Red Velvet cupcakes which I ate two days later.  I also bought (and have the last couple of years) Maple cookies (which we can get year round anyway).

                                                       Not the greatest picture..
I also have a pair of Canada Day socks, but I can't seem to find the picture of them at the moment. They are cute, though.

So, those are some of my/our traditions that we do every July 1st! (I will say that I am pretty sure that this is the first CDay that I have worked, at least in the last few years).

Canada Day Long Wknd/First Camping trip of 2014

I am a few blog posts behind, I realise that. Now that I am on a few days off, I thought I would try to catch up (including some link ups...yay!!).

I had to work CDay, but we decided to go to my parents' place for a few days. We kept waffeling btwn going and not going, and which day we would go, etc. Saturday 28th, Anker wasn't feeling well, and the weather was blah, so we decided to try and go the next day. I ran out to do a few errands, and went to a coffee shop to journal, and by the time I left, it had gotten really nice, so I came home and asked Anker if he wanted to leave. He was feeling a bit better, so we packed up and off we went. Sadly, the weather got worse as we headed North. We got there around 7:30. After saying hello to everyone, and doing a few adjustments (the tent was already set up, as Anker was there a couple of weeks prior), and making a fire, we had Veggie Dogs, Chips and carrots. Yum! Oh, and I had a late night mocha.

Mocha by the fire. Yum!

**EDITED JULY 9**
I am at home nursing a BAD sunburn, and I thought today would be a good day to stay inside and do some blog posts (was going to do it anyway), and keep cool.

Slept pretty well that night, and was actually warm, despite the coolish weather. Went to church the next day, and ran to Clearwater to grab some last minute items that we forgot. Spent a semi-relaxing evening. I visited with my aunts (one was visiting from Calgary) and watched a movie with the family. Oh, and had a nice supper of shrimp and rice.
Monday, Mom Vienna and I had a nice girls day in Clearwater. It was the last one before she goes far, far away, and I am SO glad I went.  We went to Lacraya Golf Course which we had never been to before. Sadly, the restaurant was closed, but they did say that they had sandwiches and hotdogs, and their iced tea was good. The day was great, and it was fun being someplace new. I had a turkey sandwich and potato salady, which was meh, but the convo was great, and we had fun buying stuff in our little town. I bought some sandals for Anker, who hasn't had any nice summer foot wear in forever. I am very proud of the sandals I bought for him.

That night we had a yummy dinner of steak and corn on the cob. So good!
...and of course we had to have s'mores!
Monday night, we went to bed around 10.

Woke up early Tuesday morning, had a quick breakfast, and packed up camp. My parents were very kind to let us keep our tent up for a couple of weeks. We what I call "semi camp" in my parents' back yard, in part so that I can use my sleep machine, and if there is ever a fire ban (which there wasn't this last time), we can cook meals.

Here are few more pictures from the weekend:

We left around noon on Canada Day, as I had to work. It was a lovely trip back. The weather was hot, and there wasn't a lot of traffic heading South, and I dropped hubby off, and went to work. I was SO tired when I came home from work, that I pretty much just went straight to bed. I didn't even watch the fire works. So that was our Canada Day 2014.

Happenings/Random News

Brace yourselves, folks, you could be in a for a long post!

I will try to make this short, but alas, I am a wordy person, so I will probably make this long..eek!

Family News:

I don't usually post family news, b/c for one, I know they like their privacy, and it's not my place to tell everyone, but I won't use names, and no pictures will be used.

My oldest brother (younger than me) and his wife and lil girl have moved to BC. Yay! They are also going to have another baby in the new year. I am gonna be an aunty again!!! I am so excited.

My next oldest brother are moving back from Ontario to come back to BC. Yay!! I will get see my lil nephew again.  He (my brother), also JUST finished his MASTERS in Social Work. We are all so proud of him.

My lil sister is moving far, far away to be a midwife. That makes me so sad :( But I am happy for her. She will do awesome, I know!!

Happenings:

A couple of weeks ago I attended my friend Clara's bridal shower. She marrying my friend's (from the church) son at the end of next month. It was held at her parents' house, and it was a great evening.
Here are some pictures from that evening.

 The food was amazing!
 Our (mostly!) non alky drinks.
 The cake. It was marble-filled.

The cupcakes. I didn't take one. I had the cake instead.

I thought was cool. They tied up whatever this stuff was to the poles, and to the lights.
The tiki bar..or whatever you call it.
 The bride to be!
 The gifts!
Clara opening her gift from me. I got her a chocolate fondue and a door mat.
I loved their pool!!! The party was held right near it. I thought for sure someone would fall in, but no one did.

Last week V was going to be town, and wanted to hang out with me. Naturally, I said yes. Cause I am a cool big sister like that. I didn't take many pictures documenting our day, but I did get a few pictures, and I will gladly tell you what we did.

I picked V up at Value Village. We did a bit of shopping (she HATES clothes shopping..SO not a 20 yr something girl at all in that regard...lol), that she had to do, and we decided to go to the local park/beach to soak up the sun before the clouds came in. We were only there for an hour, as it was getting cold (the river was FREEZING), and we were getting hungry.

Next we went to our local coffee shop now turned cafe. I have been there a few times, but she had never been and she had always wanted to go.  Red Beard Roasters is a locally owned and operated coffee shop, and we all love it. We each had a sandwich (actually the one I had wasn't that great), and coffee drink. Oh, I did have a root beer in a wine glass. Cause I am classy like that.

After our lunch, I took her to Menchies, which / where I had never been before, but I had always wanted to go. It was very good.

So good, in fact, that I went back yesterday to grab one. Just try keeping it under $8. I dare ya!  Went to Target, the mall, and then drove her back to meet our SIL who was driving her back. I went to a comic book store, partly b/c I never been in one) ok, I went to another one also downtown, but I didn't stay long), and also b/c I watch BBT, and I wanted to act/be nerdy. I actually bought hubby a couple of comic books, too! Met up with mom and our friend (they were in town, b/c our friend was having a cataract surgery, and asked mom to come with her) at a local restaurant, and helped mom finish her dessert. I ended up staying the night with them in the hotel. It was actually quite nice. I did my own lil manicure, and had a great sleep, and then Mom and I went for a swim in the pool. I met up with my aunt at the dog park, where we had a great visit and breakfast.

Hubby got approved for disability! Yay! I am SO happy!!! The other day, I decided to have myself ad day of fun, other wise known as What April Does on a Regular Basis. Anker and I went to the Farmers' market in the morning (where we found berries, and greens, and pie, oh my!), and then I ran out and grabbed something to eat, met up with mom and dad for a few minutes, and grabbed a slurpee, and then headed for the park. I had clouded up, which I was bummed about, but it actually got quite nice.
Ok, I lied. It was a Screamer...ice cream and slushee.

That same evening, I met up for a (late) chat with my aunt. I bought her some pies that I had found at the market. The evening was SO beautiful! I had to take a couple of pictures.

And last night had me sitting at Starbucks starting on some blog posts. I only got one and a half done before I had leave (they close at 10). So, I am actually finishing this one on Saturday night after 11 pm!

Sunday Social

Yes, I am still alive. I am hunkered down in/at a Starbucks on a rainy Friday evening, tackling this like it's a college/university essay or something, cause I am SO behind (like 4 or 5 posts!) and I am working all wknd!!! I have felt that I NEED to actually get out of the house and do a post or two...not sure why...maybe because when I get so behind, it feels like work? Anyway...here goes the first of a few posts..
Linking up with Ashley for this (or rather LAST!!) weeks Sunday Social.
1. What was your college major? Did you ever change majors?
Hard question as I went to Bible College for one year, then went to get my diploma in Medical Office Assistant, then I went to University in 2012-2013 to do my Community Support Worker Certificate. So yes, I guess I did change my major.
2. What is the best purchase you’ve made lately?
I accidentally bought After Bite Gel (vs the regular stuff), and I love it. Do gas and groceries count?
3. What is something silly we don’t know about you and go…
Silly?  I really love birthdays, and I think they should be a national holiday. I also love the FB game TrainStation. Like, really love it.
4. What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas, but I do love Thanksgiving...you still get food, but the traevelling isn't as stressful, and you don't have to worry about gifts. Plus, it's pretty. Did I mention the food?
5. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Depends on the day. If I have to wake up early, it is to hit snooze and fall back to sleep. Then I check my phone. If I don't have to wake up early, then, I still check my phone. Oh, and I pull off my sleeping machine mask if I haven't already taken it off earlier in the morning.

Your turn! Answer the questions, grab our button, and link up with Neely and me!
Next week’s questions
1. What is your favorite genre of music?
2. What is your favorite genre of movies?
3. Do you watch eality TV? If so what was the first show you remember watching?
4. Who is an actress you’d want to be BFF’s with?
5. Who is an actor you’d be happy to be stuck on an island with?
Have a great Sunday!

Random-ness (And Floods and Fires)

Y'all, I STILL can't seem to upload photos from my laptop to the blog. I am really upset. I think my laptop just needs be updated, ...
