Five on Friday: The End of/What I did on my Summer Vacation Edition

Happy Friday, Friends! I am trusting that you are having a wonderful FINAL week(end) of summer!!! I am looking forward to school starting, but I am sad, b/c the days are no longer my own. But, as my dad says.."most people do not have 2 months off"...so, basically, I have to get over it :) Ha!!!

Here are a few things from the last few weeks:

1) First off, I am SO HAPPY that I had a bit of $ saved up for the summer! I am hoping and praying that I can do it again this year...maybe I can put even more $ away!

2) I loved babysitting the boys! We had such a fun time, and though we didn't do anything, crazy, we did make some memories!

3) I got to meet my little niece earlier this month, which was a definite highlight of the summer. I will try to blog about that soon.

4) I got a few days alone in the house, which was awesome! I got to watch movies on the big tv, and Calico and I had a couple of girls' nights.

5) I am pretty much already for school! We have a new classroom this year, so that is kind of fun. It is bigger, with its own bathroom, and small kitchen (it used to the staff room).
I went out and bought a few supplies for my desk. Love the dollar store!!
Yes, I keep makeup, lotion, wipes, and hand sanitizer at work :)

6) We had our first ever day retreat up at Sun Peaks. It was so fun!! I always love going up there. It was great to see all of my friends again (yes, I am just like a kid....I get to see my friends!), and we had a yummy lunch! Oh, and we learned some stuff, too! I didn't take any pictures, which is kind of sad.

7) We had an all staff BBQ at one of the teacher's houses on Wednesday, and again, it was fun to see my friends. Two of the families (including my boss) just had a baby, so I was able to see them :) They are so adorable!

8) I loved housesitting this summer as well. I am actually doing it again this wknd. Yay!!! Last wknd, I house sat for some friends, and I watched a bunch of movies, and I didn't even feel guilty about it.

9) What is a summer holiday without SOME sort of sickness??? I got not one, but TWO ear infections! I know, I am a poor muffin. The last one was while I was house sitting last wknd, and I didn't want to drive to the doctor, as they were really sore, so I asked my teacher friend to drive me. I am pretty much over it, but I am still putting in the drops. The drops that I have didn't seem to work (I know that I am prone to them, so I have a bunch on hand, and I had started using them, but they weren't doing the trick). I also have a bit of a cold, too. I am thankful that I don't feel horrible right now.

10) There was NO SMOKE (ok, very little) this summer, for which we are thankful! There have been a few small fires, but nothing of significance (yes, I realize that any fire isn't good, and we have had a few around here, but we are thankful that there weren't any out of control/large ones!). I am thankful to the firefighters for all that they do!

There are a bunch more things...going to the outdoor play, starting on my goal setting...the hours and hours spent at Starbucks and the library, a 48 hour getaway for Anker and I, and it was hard narrowing it down to 10!

Here are some memes...and yes...this speaks to me...

Makeup Monday

Yes, it is I again....and again, not on my A game, with these MM posts. Oh well :)

I don't know if I will do a Makeup Monday Blog post EVERY week, as I tend to use the same products, but I will see how it goes...if I am getting repetitive in the products and their shades, I will have to either revamp how I do it, or just not do it as often (but, don't worry, I will probably do my LIVES, and the IG post :)

So, I have found a new favourite foundation (not to be confused with having a Firm Foundation in Christ!!), from Maybelline! The one I use is 115, and it is light, and it doesn't make me look like a corpse! I also tried their Translucent powder in 100, and both are from the FIT ME line.
For my eye shadow, I used Avon's Smokey Nights (and of course, I don't remember which two I used, but probably the two on the left [top and bottom]). I also used their lipstick in Toasted Rose (the thing about lipstick, is that I put it on, then it gets rubbed off the moment that I drink something, and I will usually put on another one during the day). I used their smokey diamonds (or smokey grey), for my eye liner, and my mascara is from Rimmel London, and my primer (which I don't use every day), is from Catrice.

I don't really have a skin care regimen, but I have used either Drunk Elephant cream, after I have put on my May Kay Time Wise, which I don't love, b/c the smell is quite strong), or my Saje Lavender Love soap. I know that a lot of these companies do test on animals, which I don't love, but I can't really afford (and right now, I chose not to) the expensive brands that don't. At least they aren't testing them on children, right? That was my MM for this week :)

Makeup Monday!

Happy Friday! Clearly, I am not on my game for the #makeupmonday post (my first!)! Oh well....it is a work in process, right? I won't plan on a long, boring post on this subject each week. I only plan to post a few pictures, and tell you what I wore! I know...exciting, right? I am not expecting a great new following, or collaborations, or companies to come calling (but, I won't say no if they do!). and I might even get some not-so-nice comments, but I wanted to try to see how 1) If I actually do this once a week (both the makeup and posting about it), 2) To see if and how people respond. Hey, I might even get some new makeup tips! In case you missed this post, I am planning on doing a Makeup Monday every Monday. I would like to say that I would do an IG live of my putting on makeup every Monday, but I doubt that is going to happen. However, I would like to post about it every Monday. So, without further drivel, here is what I wore last Monday:

For my foundation, I am wearing May Kay Ivory 7. I don't love it, but it isn't too bad. I am also trying a new primer from Catrice called Correct My Red. It goes on Green/blue, but don't be scared! It will disappear :) I like it, actually, and I found it at Shopper's Drug Mart here in Canada, but it may be in other stores. I also see that it is on Amazon :) I noticed when I Googled it, that it was sold at/in Target (I miss, Target, btw. It was in Kamloops for a hot minute, and I actually liked it, even though their deals weren't quite as good as in the US). For the eye shadow, I used Avon's True Colour Eye Shadow Quad called Attraction Quad. I don't know what colours I used (I usually only use 2 or 3), but I think it was the two on the left. I have also started using a translucent powder to help with sweating and my makeup running/coming off. I have a bronzer/ing powder that I use from Avon, and I like that as well. I have started using Maybellilne's, and I really like it. For my eye liner, I used Avon's Glimmer Sticks (I can't tell what it was that I used, b/c the name of it wore off...it was probably Smokey Diamond, or something). I also used Avon's Pink-A-Boo Lipstick (I just checked on their site, and I don't see it there anymore!). For my mascara, I used Sephora's LashCraft Mascara, and I really love it!!
I used to be an Avon Rep, and I miss selling/using it sometimes. I just checked on their website, and I didn't see it there, so I don't think they sell it anymore. Sadness!!! I might get back into selling/using Avon again :) I really do love most of their stuff!!!

How I looked when I was finished!
That is what I wore for this week!!! Tune in again to see what I wear for my next #MM.

Five on Friday!

Happy Friday, Friends!

This is my second to last Friday that I am off :) I actually have a double ear infection, which I think I got by swimming. I have no idea how else I could have gotten it. I am thankful that I have some ear drops, and that I don't have anything pressing this weekend.

We only have one more full week of "Summer", and I am not sad about it. I am looking forward to having a routine and earning money again :) I went into the school for a few minutes today, and I am really excited to start (of course, that might change after the first two weeks of school!!)!

Here are some of my favourites from this last week:

1) We had some wonderful family time last week :) I hope to blog about it soon!!! It was great visiting, eating, relaxing.....:)

2) I am looking forward to launching a new project in October! It is still in the "praying and Planning" stage, but if all goes according to plan, I will be presenting it soon! I cannot wait!!

3) I am looking forward to routine (and the money!). I am actually writing down some goals today. And although I am horrible at accomplishing my goals, it's the thought, right? Last year I wrote down my goals. You can find it here. I actually might do a post about them again (they say that posting them helps you attain your goals better, or something!).

4) I am housesitting for a friend for the next few days. It is glorious! Of course, I love being with Anker (most of the time!), but it is nice to be on my own and to watch things on a big tv, while eating junk..you know, the important things in life!!!

5) I found my favourite feminine products at Walmart today! Y'all, I thought that they had gone out of business, or something! I hadn't seen them in months! I even asked them on FB where I could find them, and they said London Drugs. I rarely go there (even though our city is small, I only go to places where I go for other things. Even though LD is near where I go to church, I tend to not go there very often. I tend to be a creature of habit :) ) I went to WM today, when I found it, I was super happy!

A Day in the Life-Summer 2019 Edition

I cannot believe that Summer is almost over! I have had a very good summer, so I cannot complain! I "usually" do A Day in the Life post over the summer (I just checked last summer's blog posts, and it doesn't look like I did one..but here is one from 2017).

I thought I would do today, since I knew that I was going to be out for most of the day, which ended up being ALL day! At least it made for good IG stories, and will (hopefully!) make for a good Blog post :)

So...here goes!

7:47 am: I wake up. I slept ok last night, but I wake every once in awhile to go to the bathroom, or when Calico meows. I told Anker that I was going to go back to sleep for a bit, but I end up staying awake. I play on my phone, text people...check out IG.

8:15: I then decide to do a Day in the Life Summer Post on IG (stories), and for the blog :) I listen to IG stories, play on my phone, etc.

8:30-9:00: I make our bed, get dressed, medicated, slap on some makeup, and leave around 855.

9:00: I drive to babysit my nephew. H is at a day camp this week, so it just leaves me and J to hang out.

9:30: J and I hang out. We relax. I eat breakfast. We get ready to run to the library.

10:30: We walk to the library. We arrive a bit late for singing with the little ones...but we still have fun :) J seems to kind of enjoy it. They end up playing for a half hour after singing.

1130: I look around the library, and get my holds.

11:45: I run to get some treats for Calico. Then to McDs, where I got myself a dollar iced coffee, and we each have a cookie :)

12:00: We walk home.

12:15: I put J to sleep, and then I start on a movie, and relax.

1:15: I unload the dishwasher.

1:30: K comes home. I leave, as I have an appointment downtown at 2. Yes, I am late. #constructionproblems

2:00-3:00: Feet (Diabetic) appointment.

3:00: I meet my teacher friend at the beach. Even though the day has clouded over, it is still very hot and muggy! We visit for awhile, and then decide to go for a swim.

3:00-6:00: We visit, we eat, we swim, we visit some more.

6:00: I leave that park, and figure out if I want to go the park on the other side of the bridge for Music in the Park. I decided to go for it, since summer is almost over! I ask a few people if they want to join me, but no one accepts, so I go to DQ to grab some dinner. I did talk with Anker, and I phone our neighbour, to see if she would like to come, but I don't get an answer.

6:00-6:45: I eat dinner. Yum!

6:45: Change back into my clothes from my swimsuit in the bathroom, and then head on over! Parking is horrendous, but I manage to squeeze in somewhere.

7:00-8:30: Music Time! Tonight it is Crystal Shawanda. I didn't know that she had gone to Blues from where I remember her in Country, but she was still pretty good. And her little girl is adorable!

8:30: I leave to go come home. In the midst of my long day, I realize that I had left my bag of magazines and books at K's (well, when I was going downtown is when I realized that I had lost it). I go back very quickly to get it.

9:00: Home after 12 hours!!! It was a good, but busy day! Other than house sitting or when I am
away, I don't know if I have had this long of a day all summer :) At least I was productive!!!

9:15: I have a bath, b/c #riverwater.

9:30: Start (and finish!!) this post, fold a few items of laundry, while watching a movie!

10:00:  I put the show Friends on my laptop, and I crash hard after chatting with a friend / playing on my phone :)

Makeup Monday Comin' at Ya (And Another Project in The Works)

I am trying to get a few posts written out today, b/c #almostendofsummer #nomorefreetime!

There are a couple of exciting projects that I am in the middle of designing/planning right now, and I think you will like them!! One is going to remain under wraps for awhile, but the other one I wanted to talk about today is one that I wanted to do last (school) year, but I never got around to it.

I had hoped to do a Makeup Monday and Motivation post (or something like that...I am still working on the name!). I would LIKE to do a blog post every Monday about what I wore makeup-wise. I also would like to do a LIVE IG video (if it is behaving..I seem to have IG problems every once in awhile) every couple of weeks or so (I also hope to blog about it as well). I will post a selfie, and the products that I used that day and I would link to the products' website (not sponsored).

I will probably post the blog post that afternoon or evening, and likely also try to put in a Motivational saying or quote, or maybe I will post a Bible verse, or some words of encouragement. For my LIVE IG (or maybe FB?) video, I will probably do the same thing. I am not sure how long I will do it for (the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak...lol), but even if I can do (post and LIVE) once a month, I would be happy with it.

The reason? I really don't have much of a reason, except that I would have fun trying different looks! It would also hold me accountable to doing makeup once a week (I often go weeks without wearing it), and even though I really don't NEED it, I think I look a bit more "put together" when I have makeup on. Maybe people will take me more seriously??? :)

It would look like this :
Complete with a selfie of me :)
I would explain (link) to the products and their colours, etc.

Father's Day Weekend

Happy Mid-Summer!!! I hope you are having a wonderful summer! I am going to attempt to write about what happened on Father's Day Weekend nearly two months ago. Ha!

Friday:

We left after school, at around 4 or 5. I don't remember what we did Friday evening. We stopped to grab groceries on the way for breakfast and the Father's Day BBQ the nextt day. I am not sure what we did Friday evening. I know that we had tea, and I think we watched tv/movies, or we might have visited.

Saturday: Mom and I went to Clearwater to run a few errands. We got sushi and ice caps from Tim's, and we got more groceries for the next day. I sat outside and read for awhile, and in the evening, Anker and I visited with my aunt and uncle. I also got started on doing things for the meals the next day. Anker helped Mom do a few things, including getting the pool ready for the summer. I also helped Mom with cleaning and organizing their B&B, which she has redecorated.

Sunday: I slept in longer than I had wanted (or rather, should have), and Isaac and I got things ready for our Father's Day breakfast with/for Dad. We had a wonderful breakfast, and then we got ready for church; went to church, and when we came back, we started getting things ready for the BBQ. We had a wonderful lunch/Supper BBQ together! If I remember correctly, the evening was perfect, and the company and food were pretty good, too! Anker and I left around 7 or so to go back home. It was a lovely weekend, and although very busy, we enjoyed spending time with family and celebrating my dad!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, Friends!!! Yes, I am still alive!!! Greetings from the beautiful interior of BC :) I am writing today from my parents' place :) Anker and I are here for a few days.

Early Morning Breakfast with Mom
A few week ago, Mom and I had an early morning breakfast together by the river, and it was so fun!!!

Time with Church Family
In the middle of July, we had a church picnic at one of the members' house. We had a great time of food, fun, and fellowship. Did I mention that the food was delicious!!??? The next Sunday, I went and watched their softball pick up game that they do sometimes.

Beach (x2)/Family Time
The same day as the church picnic, I went to my brother's to see what was up (our cousin and his family where there, and I had visited them the day before), and they were headed to the beach. I invited myself, and off to the beach we went. We had pizza, some of swam (I ended up not swimming this time), and we talked and read. It was wonderful to spend time with extended family. The next day, I went to the beach alone, and I swam, read, and got burnt. It was the best day!

Day Trip
My other cousin (the sister to the cousin who was here the week prior) was at the ranch for a few days, and Anker also wanted to do a few projects, so went to the ranch. I stayed the day, and Anker stayed for a few days. C and I had a lovely visit, and I left around 5 to got back to Kamloops for my SIL's Bday party :)

Time Alone
While Anker was away at the ranch, I had a few wonderful days alone :) Y'all, it was glorious!! I got to watch movies on the BIG TV, and Calico and I had a couple of girls' nights. Also, I may or may not have picked all of the carrots in our garden. Hey, at least I was productive! The first Sunday in August, I looked after my friend's dog. I stayed there for the night, and I had a wonderful time!

Wow, that first part (post) was from 2 weeks ago!!! I am going to leave them there, and also talk about the five from this last week. I wrote out the 5 headers a few weeks ago, and the description today :)

These are not necessarily in either chronological nor in order of "favourites":

Garden/BC Fruit/berries Produce
Although we don't have a big garden, we are loving the wonderful produce that we have been getting! I also have been buying BC Cherries, Peaches, and Blueberries. A couple of my friends have also had their own peaches. So good!

Family Time
One of my brothers and his family are visiting my parents for a few days, and we are here spending time with them. We met new baby E, and we are enjoying hanging out with family. Anker is in his glory fixing whatever needs to be fixed at the ranch. We also celebrated my dad's birthday this last Wednesday.

New Stuff (t-shirts and movies)
I bought two shirts from Mark's a few weeks ago, and I love them! It is nice to buy new and not from Walmart once in awhile. Feeling kind of bad that Anker hadn't bought anything for himself, I picked up a few movies for him.

Fun Events (Rib Fest)
My neighbour and I went to our city's 8th Annual Ribfest last weekend. We got ribs (way too much $ but delicious!), and we wandered around. Our local transit was free all wknd to ride, which was amazing!

Movies with my neighbour
My neighbour and I have been spending time hanging out and watching movies (and going to the above-mentioned Ribfest). It has been fun getting to know her, and to have someone so close to watch movies with!

PC Hot chocolate
We are loving the President's Choice Chocolate Milk Mix. It is SOOOOO good!!! We love it b/c we can use it either hot or cold. Yum!

Savings
I am SO THANKFUL that I have saved a bit from when I was working. I don't have a lot saved up, but at least we have something to pay bills, etc. :)

Spending time with the Boys/Evening Swim
I am loving spending time with my nephews this summer. They are a riot, and the job is pretty easy. We have gone for walks, baked a zucchini/carrot loaf, and had lots of fun talking and laughing together. A couple of weeks ago, K and I went for an evening swim with the boys :) I hope we go again before school starts up.

Visit with my Childhood Friend
A week or so ago, while Anker and were away at the ranch for 48 hours (I will blog about that soon), my childhood friend C was also here visiting her family. We ended up visiting and swimming for 2 hours, which was so fun!

Variety of Activities this Summer
I am loving the variety of activities that I have had this summer. I went to an outside play, went to a lake with our church family, tried out the new downtown Starbucks a few times, read, watched movies, house sat for my friend, S for a few days (twice!), visiting with family, swimming, going out for coffee with friends....looking after the boys, coffee, magazines, books..a walk with a friend, 48 hour anniversary getaway with Anker, Music in the Park, 24 hours with my friend, a solo trip to the ranch, pedicure, cleaning (fridge, bathroom, etc), daytes (including one that included Poutine!) with Anker, dinners with friends and family.....the list goes on!!...I am super thankful!!!

A Little Catch Up & A Small Rant(and a Surprise!)

Howdy! Well, as my aunt says, "I'm so far behind, I'm ahead", so I think I will take a page from her play book and just st...
