Tell Us Tuesday (two days late)/MidWeek Randoms: Laptop Update, Duck Dynasty, and Chicken Caccicore

Hello! Yes, I am still alive:)

I also need to do a Capture your Grief Post, and I also see that BBTB is up again! SOOO..lots of posts coming up:)

First off, let's do the buttons/link up sponors

I am linking up with Courtney @ One Fine Wire for Tell us Tuesday, and Megan @ In this Wonderful Life for Mid Week Randoms (which I haven't joined up with in a long time). Wild Card Wednesdays has ceased to continue, which is of course totally fine, but now I have another link up to join in on!

A couple of a weeks ago, when I downloaded (fake)Skype, I also downloaded some nasty and annoying viruses. Ads were coming up when I knew they shouldn't, and it would direct me to surveys, etc. Annoying. Anker tried to get most of the stuff out, but there were still a few that had found their way in.Well, the last straw came yesterday, when I couldn't get into Blogger!!! I know, right?!! Anker tried to help me fix it, but then he realized that I should just change my browser to FireFox. No more problems. I am so happy. I have had to learn how to use FF along with Windows 7. Thankfully, it is pretty easy. So, no more IE for me!

Oh my word! I must be the last person on the planet to watch Duck Dynasty! I love that show! Not enough to go and buy the entire series, but I really do think it is hilarious, and I have the early seasons on hold at the library. What a funny, funny family!!! Like Big Bang, I think I like it because they live a different life than me. They are so different. I actually kind of got interested when I saw Korie on the cover of Guidepost a couple of months back. I loved the article, and that piqued my interest. Then we got a book in the store that one of the guys wrote, which I took a look through. I had no idea that one of the guys is a preacher:) Anyway, I have watched a few episodes already, and I have laughed at all of them. So, yah, that is my new show!

And I finally finished DA season 3. I am so mad that Matthew died. Arrgh! I have seen a spoiler for season 4 that a friend posted on my time line today, and I am not happy with their SL`s from what I have read:( But there will be a Christmas Epi which will air in December.

Ok...so, now it is cooking lessons with April:)

As I have said before, I am not much a cook, but every once in awhile I come across a recipe that looks fun and easy to make. So, when I saw this recipe for Easy Chicken Cacciatore, I knew I wanted to make it (esp since we had most of the ingredients).

The recipe IS really easy, with very few ingredients.
It called for 8 skinless boned chicken thighs, but I only had 4 skin on and bone in.
                                                     Flour and brown the chicken.
Fry onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, green pepper in pan. Add Tomato paste and diced tomatoes. Oh, and chicken broth. Let simmer. Re-add the chicken, and let cook and simmer for about 20-40 minutes. (depending on if it is bone in or not).

I was a bit disappointed in it, as it was a bit burnt and there wasn't enough sauce (granted, I only halved it, so I could have added more), but it was good other than that. Anker liked it, and he is a picky eater, so that is the main thing:) I served it over pasta, which was very good!

Tell us Tuesday; Capture Your Grief Days 3 &4

Thank goodness yesterday is over! Actually, everything that frustrated me yesterday is still frustrating me today, but at least it's a new day, right?

As I type this, it is a foggy Autumn morning; I love it! I got to work early, as hubby had an appointment downtown, so I was here for a few minutes before I had to open the store.

After I left work yesterday, I ran a few errands, and went home. Hubby had not (to my chagrin) had started or even thought of what to make for supper, so I started in. I am really trying to eat healthier, and I also want to try to implement Meatless Mondays at least once a week. I remember asking my dad (who is sheep rancher, and soooo not a vegetarian) if he ever did Meatless Monday's, and he looked at me as if I had 4 heads! I asked them again awhile back, and they said no. My dad is a person who eats meat 3-4 times a day. True story. Anyway, I looked in our fridge, and found a lot of veggies that needed eating up, and I came up with this;
It's a veggie stir fry with brown and some white rice. I usually don't like stir frys, but I thought I would give it a whirl, even hubby who is a picky eater liked it.

Here is the salad I had on Sunday night
Doesn't it look DELISH!!??

Here are some of the pictures I took on my phone on our way back on Sunday.

This is the view of a part of our city going up a hill towards our house.

One thing I forgot to mention on my wknd post was that I added to my first ever blogger contact to my phone!! I have a few blogging friends on FB, but Sky-Ann is the first blogger that I have added to my phone:) We had a fun phone/texting conversation on Friday night while I was out for coffee:)

Ok, so on to the next part of today's post/subject. I shared with hubby on how I am doing this project, and I explained (or rather, tried to) to him on how it works. I want him to be involved in my blog, and this subject/project was no exception.
Capture Your Grief Days 3&4 deal with Myths and Legacy respectively.

3. Myths: Do you believe there are any myths about grief? You could write the myth on a piece of paper and photograph it.

There are two myths that I find people like to tell me; or that I tend to think.

Myth 1: You can't mourn something you never had. A few people have said this to me. I can tell you that it isn't true. You mourn for something that you can't have; a life that you had always thought that you were going to have; and had hoped for. It IS possible to mourn something (especially if you really wanted it, and it was very close and tangible) that you haven't had. Trust me. I do. I mourn nearly every day.

Myth 2: You will get over it-Eventually. Like wounds, it will heal; sort of. It lessens; you have a day, a week or even a month or year where children/infertility isn't as strong. You go to school, you get a job, you travel, you enjoy life; you nieces and nephews; but trust me, it isn't the same as having your own. Then at night, when everyone has gone home, and you are alone; you may watch a show or a commercial, or something will trigger it (more on triggers on another day), and you instantly get sad. So, I actually partially believe this, but not fully. When talking with hubby about this last night and this morning, he agreed with me; that it lessens, but it never completely goes away.

4. Legacy: Do you believe your child left a legacy behind? It could be something very simple but meaningful.

I actually don't like the word "legacy". It seems so..I don't know.....new age-y, or something so large. That being said, I can appreciate why people use it (and yes, I have used the word a few times). The one thing I am doing/have done since finding out that we couldn't have kids is writing and sharing this blog. I started blogging right after we were married, because it was the "Cool thing to do", but in the last year, I have wanted to hone in on our infertility life. I want people to know that there is another life other than having kids.  I want people to know that infertility hurts; just because we can't have kids (or we haven't lost a baby), it doesn't mean that we don't hurt and mourn. I used to think that you had to have kids to have a blog. True Story. Now that I am involved in link ups, there are A LOT (maybe even more than) of ladies (let's face it, ladies blog WAY more than men!), who either don't have kids, or who are single. I also share and get involved in linkups to share my blog, so that people can at least try to understand what the life of an infertile couple looks like.

Another thing that I would like to do is start a RESOLVE (or some other kind of infertility group) in our town. I don't run, but I would love to have a run/walk in support of infertility awareness (and probably pregnancy/infant loss as well) in this area. The thought of starting and organizing something like that, however, is very overwhelming, so I doubt that I will ever get it off the group. Also, would we get any support? Would anyone come?

Tell Us Tuesday/Wild Card Wednesday

Just a few things today...

My email address is april.t.wainwright@gmail.com
I now have 18 followers:) Remember, my 25th follower will get something from me.
I actually did stuff before getting on the computer this morning. Cleaning, folding clothes, etc. I know. I am awesome.
We got new stuff at the store today.
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month... 1 in 4 have been touched by loss...My mom has suffered 6 or 7 miscarriages. I can count at least 10 (?) ladies that I know FOR SURE that have lost babies (either through miscarriage, stillbirth, died shortly after, etc).
This was shared on FB today.

We had a yummy supper last night.  Pork medallions, fresh corn, potatoes, and I had a salad, and we had some crepe things for dessert. I just relaxed last night. I watched TV, and hubby and I watched TLC, JJ, and TAR together.

I found out what that towel thing was that my friend got me. It is to be worn after you have a bath or shower (or the beach or pool). I actually kind of like it.

My DR wants me to come and see him about my blood work. I am a bit nervous, and I am taking Hubby with me.

I was feeling really tired yesterday, as I mentioned, and I wasn't feeling well last night at all. I seem to be feeling better today, though.

My Avon package is delayed a day. BOO!

I saw these little things on the internet the last few days...

One of my blogging friends posted this on her blog over a year go, and referred to it again today. I hadn't watched it yet, and I had time, and it was very moving. Her church did this neat project/video. She is on 3:45, and her daughter (with her family in the background) is at around 6 minutes.

Chr1s T0mlin Video...

Saw this on FB as well...it is a few minutes, but watch it if you have time.

I think I am going to pin my Mac n Cheese Recipe to Pinterest:)

Speaking of Pinterest, I now have 12,291 pins to my board.  I clearly have a problem, no?

Tell us Tuesday-Cooking Class/Show and Tell with April

I am linking up with  Courtney over at  One Fine Wire for this weeks TuT:) I have decided to do a show and tell (with picture) of what I made (up) last night for supper!! I thought it would be neat to TELL YOU about a new recipe that I tried (and made up), on TELL US TUESDAY. Get it?

First off, though a little picture from my phone to show you how cold it was this morning at 8 am:)
That's correct. 3C. That is COLD!!! It is now 10C.

We didn't have a whole ton to work with as far as groceries right now, and we don't have the money to buy more stuff until next Monday, but I wanted something KIND OF healthy, so I decided (after an hour of being home, laying on the bed watching JJ eps) that I would make an adult version of mac n cheese. Well, there isn't much "adult" in it, except garlic, onions, and Havarti cheese, which some kids may not like. But other than that, there isn't any "adult" ingredients. Sadly, I don't have any measurements (I rarely do in cooking), and please excuse my small/messy kitchen.

                                                   Adult Version Mac n' Cheese

Macaroni (duh). I think I used about 2 cups, which was enough for Anker and I (plus he had seconds, and there are leftovers).
This was the first batch of ingredients, then I decided to add the Zucchini

Mustard, garlic (about two small cloves), onion (I used about a 1/4), Harvarti Cheese, Mild Cheddar Cheese, Light Cream, Zucchini, and butter, oh and ham (or some other meat).
I cut up the ham, like this.

And I fried it, to heat it up.
I crushed up the garlic, and chopped the onion...

....and fried them together with olive oil.
While the macaroni was cooking (please us a larger pot than I did. I had transfer it over to a larger pot, and thus had to wash two macncheese filled pots:)

Harvati...yum! This melted quite well. I would probably use more than I did, though.

I am not sure on how much cheese I used..not enough..lol.
I grated the zucchini. I put everything on the plate before putting it over the macaroni.

First in goes the butter (or margarine), and cream..I used a bit too much...so maybe only a quarter of a cup of cream, or less.
As you can see, I had to transfer it over to a larger pot. Then in goes the cheeses.

Followed by zucchini, ham, garlic, and onion, and the mustard.

I also added peas to mine.

A better shot.

I think it turned out well. Anker is a pretty picky eater, and he had seconds, so I was impressed by how it turned out.

I went out for coffee (McD's this time) with a friend. We had a two hour chat. I was able to share with her with has been going on. It was great to have someone to talk to in person who understands, or at least can appreciate what I am going through. I felt a bit better after talking with her.
Baby Ice cream cone for .30. Perfect size for that late at night.

McD's PSL. I like it:)
I came home and had a hot Bubble Bath. Yes, one of the reasons I like fall and winter. Cool weather=hot (bubble) baths!

I ended the night with chocolate and doing my nails with some new NP that I got from my friend in our group. JJ+Pink Nail Polish Manicure+Chocolate=the end of a great day/night!
Pretty Pink nail polish:) This picture doesn't do it justice! I LOVE the colour!

I got my parcel from my friend L yesterday.
Necklace, mirror, lipstick and lipstick holder, earrings, and a towel gift.

I don't know for what it is. I think it is wrap of some kind.

I am going to use the mirror for my purse compact. It even matches!
See? It's a mirror.

My necklace and my nails this morning.

Well, that is all for now. As usual, it was longer than I had anticipate. Oh well:) And yes, some of this will be going on my Fof, TToT:)

Tell Us Tuesday aka Why I Don't have a problem with Downton Abbey, and Why I DO have a problem with 19 Kids and Counting...

Linking up with Courtney today for this weeks TUT:) I think this is my second or third wk of linking up.

This post talks about two very (sort of) controversial shows that I watch. These are especially controversial in the Christian community. I really don't have a reason for doing this, except to blab my mouth off:)

A lot of people (mainly Christians) have been talking about how "bad" Downton Abbey (from here on will be known as DA) is. I actually read (and re-found it) this post a few months ago (before I even decided to try it out), on why she doesn't watch DA, and I was impressed with what the writer had to say. So much so, that I actually, for that moment, decided that I shouldn't watch it. Then I decided that I would try it out for myself. I have just finished the second season, and I have a (fairly) good handle on the show. The verdict? I don't have a problem with it. I (sadly) have watched worse shows than this. ER/Grey's have dealt with more than their fair share of gay-related story lines. Yes, I kind of wondered whether I should watch it after I saw Thomas kiss his (who WAS he, anyway?) lover. But that was all. There hasn't been any other mention of it. Yes, the daughters are selfish, but they have since become a lot less selfish. Sybil is a nurse, and the other two are well...just not as selfish. The father has a bit of a thing with Jane (the maid) but thankfully, it doesn't go too far, and she leaves. Thomas is always up do to no good, but usually he is found out. With the Black Market food he got for Mrs. Patmore, it was all rubbish. He had wasted all of his money! I think that was funny. He got was he deserved. For everything bad thing that someone does, it either sorts itself out (as in, nothing else comes of it) or something bad happens (remember when Mary slept with Mr. Pamuk, and he died in her bed, and they had to move his body out?), and they have to deal with it in a not-so-conventional way. I rather think it is funny the way that things can play out after someone makes a bad decision. Anna and Sybil marry the ones they loved. But I think the thing I love most about it (other than the era it is set in...the castle, the clothes, the pretty things), is on how the upstairs family is SO kind to the downstairs staff. Earl Grantham paid for Mrs. Patmore to get her cateracts fixed. Mary let Anna and Mr. Bates have their wedding night in a special room (and they waited until they got married to do the deed..another plus). They are friends. They tell each other stuff. Sometimes, with no one else. So, yes, there are things that go on in that show that maybe aren't the best, but what about everyone who watched HP? The Hunger Games? Those deal with witchcraft and violence. As a Christian, I don't have a problem watching DA.

Another show I wanted to talk about (and can be seen as controversial) is 19 Kids and Counting, which from here on shall be known as the Duggars. I have watched this show since it's inception. I think I watched it when it was a special on Discovery Channel, as it was called "14 Kids and Pregnant Again". I think she was pregnant with Jackson. I have always liked them, even though they were a bit odd. And not just the fact that they had 19 children. I have always wondered what "religion" or faith (as my preferred word is) was. Are they Mormon? Church of God? Fundamentalist Christian Doctrine? Just overly modest and involved in their kids' lives? From watching them the last few years, they seem to believe in pretty much everything I believe. But this last season really got me thinking. For the record, hubby and I both love this show, and we will continue to keep watching it. For one, we love the kids, and two (among many others), it is one of the few clean shows that is on TV (yah, we're looking at your, Sister Wives, Honey Boo-Boo, and Toddler's and Tiara watchers!). The kids are so sweet, and we both always have a good laugh.

Here is a link that I saw and read the other day; this will take you to the blog post.

Here are my few..how shall I say it, qualms? I have with the show.

For one, JB (the dad) is just plain annoying. He talks to the kids like they are babies. The way he talk in general is annoying...like he is talking to a small child, or someone who isn't understand of what he is saying. Michelle is so sweet, but even then, she is just too sweet. Does she ever yell at the kids?

A lot of what the Duggars do and believe are the same things (views) that I grew up with. I am the oldest of 7. We helped raise the younger kids, as the older Duggar kids do. But that is where the similarities end. We "helped" raise them. We didn't raise them. Yes, there were days where we looked after the kids all day, and we did our chores...dishes, garden, etc. But our parents were deeply involved in our upbringing. Yes, we helped, but they did 90% of the child rearing. We kids had our nights out with our friends, we didn't have to help with the kids all.the.time. Now, I get that there are more kids. But what is wrong with an evening away for your sibs? Nothing IMHO. I know Michelle does do A LOT...but let the older kids be kids! I know we don't see EVERTHING, and they may do more than we see, but from what I see on TV, it looks as though they don't have a whole lot of time to themselves. When they go out as a family, I can totally understand the older kids being a "buddy" to the younger ones. That's just logistics.

Another qualm I have with the show is how little the kids go out. On TV, the only time they go out is either with their family, or Anna's (their SIL) family, or with another pre-approved family/friend that the parents have authorized as "ok". We could have We could go out (youth group, parties) as long as my parents were at least sort of aware of who was there, and what it was about. Of course, they wouldn't have liked it if we had gone to a drinking party, but we wouldn't have wanted to, anyway. I don't even think the kids go to a youth group. They need to get away, and have their own teenage time. They even share their rooms with their younger (same sex) siblings. Yes, I shared a room, but with only sib at a time. And it was never for longer than a year or so.

Another is Courting vs. Dating. Now, don't get me wrong, I believe in courting vs dating, BUT they believe that courting should only be done with other family members present. HUH? I agree...have your date meet your family, go on group dates, etc, but you also need that time alone with your partner. When they announced that their daughter was courting on the People Website this week, I read it, and I was actually worried for her. It seems that all they talk about is theology and scripture. Yes, that is important, but you need to also talk about other things as well. And again, going on dates alone is important.

Another is modesty. I am all for modesty, but I believe they are going to the extremes. And they seem to "blame" or put it all on the women to be modest. What about the guys that they are with, or that are looking at them? Do they really have to have undershirts underneath their tops? Why can't the girls wear capri pants (I only wear those in the summer, anyway), and the boys wear boy (long) shorts? I think this is rather funny, since you can clearly see the girls wear make up.

Another is homeschooling. Again, I was homeschooled, so I am not going to say much, but this, along with going to a house church, along with not getting out also leads to thinking ONLY of what their parents think. The older ones have to help the younger ones with their school work. How are they supposed to do their own work?

There is more I could talk about...lack of internet usage (who cares, really), lack of TV, (meh...not as big of a deal), discipline, the fact that they supposedly use the Bill Gothard program (I don't know about that for sure, but it could very well be true), their courting vs dating beliefs, etc. But what I think REALLY got me thinking twice about this family, was what happened at the end of last season. Josh and Anna were wanting to move to Washington, DC, and JB clearly didn't want them to go (ok, I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was similar). Yes, my parents can be a bit too involved in our lives, but they would never (unless it was harmful) tell us what to do, where to go, etc. Yes, my parents tell us to either do or not do things when we ask, and I know that J&A did ask them, but they (the parents) seemed bit too much into their lives. Almost as if he wanted to control them. I think that this is the thing that bugs me the most. They want to control them. They want them close. I don't think that that is always a good thing. We kids need to have time away from our parents, even if it is for a year. My parents always have encouraged us to go to Bible College for at least one year. If we want to go to school or travel, or get a job after that, great! It seems that the Duggars want to keep their kids close....not sure if that is my idea of a fun time.

So, there you have it. Those are only some of my concerns for this family. But I will continue to watch it. Why? Like I said before, it is a clean show, and it just nice to watch. The little kids are funny, and I do like seeing what they are doing with their lives.

Tell us Tuesday/Wild Card Wednesday

Linking up with Courtney

Linking up with Mal

I wasn't going to blog today, but you know me and link ups:)

It is another beautiful day here in the Southern Interior. I posted this picture on my FB page that I had taken 2 years ago
I heart fall:)

I chatted with my brother today. You know, the one who left us Westerners to get his Masters:) Seriously, though, I am so proud of him:) That is a homeschool story in itself that I will tell sometime. Maybe. So, we had a chat today. I am still a bit down about looking for work/find a job. He was very encouraging, and had some suggestions for me, which was awesome. I felt better after talking with him.

I was thinking earlier today, that maybe this is where God wants me RIGHT NOW. I mean, sure, I know God wants more/better for us, but maybe this is what he wants me to be doing right now. I can still be looking for work, I may do some volunteer work in the future, but for now, maybe I am to be at the store. I mean, what's not to love? It is a quiet (which I wish it were a bit busier, but it is what it is, I guess) place to work. I can read, FB/Blog, and I LOVE Christian books/cds/movies, etc. I LOVE Christian Book stores!! (Heck, I love ANY Bookstore...I can be lost in Ch@pters for hours. True story). I love helping people find what they need or want. Anyway, I am going to try to not flip out (at least not for now) about my job search. There isn't much else I can do about it, anyway. The industry that I am in does not afford me the financial luxury of moving, unless it is a $20+/hr job, and/or unless they are able to financially help us move. It just isn't worth it. Hubby can't be where it is to cold, so moving North isn't really an option. (I mean, I am up for anything, and will totally go if/where God calls me, and if there is a door opened) But for now, I think we are to stay here, and I will keep doing what I am doing. I will keep praying and pressing in on the Lord, and seeking His will. Who says that His will isn't for me to be at the store? God does some strange things sometimes.

We put out Christmas cards today, as people were asking about them. Thankfully, she had a bunch from last year, so I put them out. Over 100 days until Christmas. True Story. You're welcome. Click on Christmas 2013 Countdown to get up to the second, well, seconds until Christmas..

So, I see all over the internet/social media that Chevron is all the rage. I started wondering what I was. I looked it up, as to me, Chevron is a gas company, but no, apparently, Chevron is also a pattern as well. Three things. Who knew? And who names these new patterns? Does anyone else think it is weird that there is a pattern and gas company with the same name? Please tell me I am not the only one who feels this way:)
Chevron Gas.

Chevron Pattern.

We have been having some great weather lately:) I love this weather..not too hot, but nice enough that a person can still enjoy being outside.
This is the weekly forecast:)

This was the weather a few minutes ago:) Sweet, right?

I got a PSL this morning. I had to:)
I am still sipping on it hours later. I like my mug, too, although I can't put it in the microwave.

Jim Parsons is on WDYTYA tonight. I love that show! Even hubby, who doesn't normally watch it with me, will probably watch it. It is also The Little Couple tonight. Again, it is one of the shows that hubs and I watch together...they are so normal (well, they are rich, but normal other than that!!). I love seeing their lil guy, too. Hubs gets a kick out of seeing him, too. I think should move to TX, just so I can babysit him. Just sayin', (Hey, at least it's warm there, right??)

TARC was good last night. It is down to the final 3 teams now. I think I am voting for the Tims father/son team. Jon Montgomery is doing a great job hosting, and while I wish the teams had gone overseas like the American TAR, I am really enjoying the beauty that is our wonderful Country. I am glad that they stayed within Canada.

Big Bang starts SOON! Season 6 comes out today...sadly, we will have to wait until the wknd to buy it. Oh well.

Y&R is really good right now. I wasn't really watching it for a couple of weeks (well, not as much, anyway), but last night, it turned really good (actually, it was good when they had Katherine/Jeannies Service).

VeggieTales is coming out with ANOTHER Christmas DVD. I think this makes about 5 Xmas dvds, now, or maybe even more.

Here are some things I saw on my FB newsfeed today, that I found very interesting, and good for a laugh (sorry, Miley).

Well, Miley, you did bring this on yourself!
This takes me back when our family (while I was still living at home) was adding on to our house.

Love this...

I am so proud of all my family today (well, I am every day, but I was thinking of them all today). My parents, with their books (yes, BOTH of them will have a book out), my brother and his wife, and his photographing for famous clothing brands, and other brother, moving to get his Masters. My sister in Europe, on her adventure,  Lil Brother dong so much of the ranch work, and helping out Dad, Lil brother going to Bible College, and Baby brother at the ranch, helping the family and being a good pet-parent to his dog:)
Yup, I am proud, of every.single.one of them.

Ok, Too much as usual...sorry! Have a great Tuesday/Wednesday!

Random-ness (And Floods and Fires)

Y'all, I STILL can't seem to upload photos from my laptop to the blog. I am really upset. I think my laptop just needs be updated, ...
