Weekend Wrap Up (Oct 12-14) AND (October 19-21)

Hi :) I have two weekends to catch up on, so let's get to it!

First off, Meghan is pregnant :) They told me themselves! I am very happy, but a bit surprised (what happens if the couple can't have bio babies??) that it happened so soon, but kudos to them!!! The baby will be gorgeous!! Also, I have a day off tomorrow (my first day off of this school year!), as I have a breathing appointment, and they can only do it like twice a wk, or something, so I decided to take the day off since I really can't work 3 hours on either side of said appointment.

Ok..I had plans to do only do one wknd, but since last wknd was kind of interesting, I thought that I would talk about that, too.

So, first off, October 12:

Friday, Anker and I had our flu shots. I know....we like to live it up over here! I think I went to the library first, and then picked up Anker, and we had our shots. We got tv dinners, as my brother had asked me last minute to look after H. Before I left, I quickly cleaned up a bit. I was there for at around 7:30, and hung out until 11. I waited up for my little brother, as he was in town, watching a movie with friends, and has asked if he could stay over, and I knew that he was coming in pretty late. After I got him settled, we all went to bed.

Saturday, I woke up at 7freaking:30. I don't know why, since I was in bed late, but I made myself stay in bed until 8:30. I watched TV, and waiting until he got up. We went to/breakfast at Dennys, his treats. And, oh my, what a treat it was! I had the Citrus Strawberry Pancake Breakfast. Wow! It was SO good!!!

After dinner, I dropped Anker off, and I was hoping to go and read by the river, but although it was sunny, it was really cold and windy. So, I just sat in the car, and looked through my IG, and FB, and I took some pics. It really was lovely.

I came home for a bit, and watched tv, and relaxed, and read magazines. Then I went to the library, and then for a drive. I grabbed sushi at Edo Japan. It was SO good!!!
I finished my book, and relaxed until it was time to go to my friends place for tea and a visit. I had a wonderful chat with my friend, and came home at 10:30.

Sunday, Anker and I went to church together, he really enjoyed it. I hope that he will come back with me soon :) We came home, and I went out with my friend to/for lunch, then we went to the park and read mags for a bit. We ran to the dollar store, then I came home and watched tv. I went to my friends house to do laundry, as the hot water tank in the laundry room was broken. She was very kind to let me hang out with them at about the time she was getting her kids to bed.

This last wknd:

Friday, Oct 19: I came home to pack, ran a few errands, and went and stayed at my brother and SILs house, as they were away, and I like be alone once in awhile. I did laundry, had sushi, and watched TV :) I actually watched Hallmark movies. Yes, I am THAT person that likes those movies, I am not gonna lie...there is no shame in my game.

Saturday: I slept in, and relaxed, and plotted my day until around 11. I left and went to Starbucks, where I blogged and read for about 3 hours. It was SO fun! Then, I went to the park and took some pics, which was delightful! I packed my stuff up, and cleaned up a bit, and then went to my friend's place in the country, where we had a wonderful fall dinner, and sat outside around her chiminea, where we sat and visited, and even enjoyed some fireworks! We went back inside for more pie, and we all left at around 10. I went to bed around 11.

Sunday: I thought that we would both go to church, but I ended up just needing to stay home and relax. I read two books that I am reading (I will probably write more about that soon), and then I watched tv and movies. Yes, I might have watched more Hallmark movies! I also got caught up on some of my 100 of shows that I watch.

Waffles with homemade blueberry syrup and yogurt.
One of the books I am reading is by Max Lucado.

So, that was the last couple of weekends around here. Hope you are having a wonderful Falltober (yes, that's a word!).

Don't Forget to Play in the Leaves

Last Saturday, I did something that I hadn't done in ages (well, not for awhile, anyway): I played in the leaves! I took a walk in a park across from my brother and sister-in-laws), to mainly take pictures of the trees. I also decided to have some fun, and I sat down, and I played with/in the leaves. Did I feel a foolish? Yes, a bit. Did I care, not one bit! Why? Because I wanted to have some fun, and take a break from "adulting", and to be a kid again.

Yes, I have a lot of "me time", probably more than is normal, but even in my "me time", I tend to do things that are "adult-approved". I sit and drink coffee, read, shop, maybe take a walk (ha!), take pictures, well, you get the picture. But when was the last time that YOU played in the leaves, danced in the rain, walked (biked, drove) through puddles, built a snowman/fort, picked wild flowers, watched a "kids' show", caught snowdrops on your tongue, coloured, made a gingerbread house? And, although you probably do those with your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews (which are also fun to do, and very important), when was the last time that you did something "childish" on your own (or even with your spouse)? It has probably been awhile.

In a world where we are "supposed to" act like an adult (and we should most of the time!), it is so easy to forget the simple and fun things in life. The world is changing, people are changing, WE are changing, and that's ok! We have responsibilities, we have worries, we have a life! But guess what? It is also ok to just sit back and "be". It is ok to reflect on what made your childhood fun, what things you enjoyed while growing up. Don't become "too adult". Don't forget who you once were. Jesus said "Truly, I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3. Jesus is basically saying to not give up our innocence in the craziness that is life. Remember to have fun, remember to do what makes you happy, and gives you joy. It's ok to not be the "responsible" adult sometimes! Of course, this does NOT mean any abusive or destructive behaviour to yourself or others :) I AM saying, though, to get out there and have some good ol'-childlike fun. Do something with joyful abandon! Heaven knows, you deserve and need it!

Five on Friday: Thanksgiving/Fall Edition

Yes, it is now two weeks past our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and I had hoped to have posted about that (Thanksgiving, FoF, etc) around then, but I never did, so here are a few of my current fall favourites!

1) I got this Reusable bag from Walmart last wknd, and I love it. It is my new Mag/book bag. I actually find buying these bags hilarious, b/c I usually always forget to use them when I got shopping! But I hope to try to remember :) Ha!

2) We are still getting produce in the middle of October! I think this will be the last, though. Anker has pretty much cleared the whole garden. I am still taking tomatoes to school for lunch. Yum!!! I am also thankful that we have some produce either canned or frozen to use this winter.

3) I bought these cute little PJ pants from, where else?, Walmart the other day! I love me some fuzzy PJ pants! Did I mention that they are pink and have sheep on them?? I also scored a fall coat for $5 at the thrift store. I don't LOVE it, and it doesn't look great on me, but when my other coat's zipper stopped working, and I knew we were going on an all day class outside field trip, and I knew that I had to buy one from somewhere. I don't have a picture of it right to post. I will try to post one on here (or on IG) soon.

4) I love Fall :) I love the cooler weather, I love pumpkin everything, I love Thanksgiving with family, I love the colours....I love, love it! I don't actually have a favourite season, b/c I enjoy them all, but there is something about fall...especially after a long hot summer. I think that is why fall is adored by all....one of the few seasons that I feel that are celebrated on Social Media..b/c everyone is back to school, back to routine, etc. And, of course, Pumpkin spice everything!!!Did I say that I love Pumpkin Pie?

Pumpkin pie with pretzel salad on top. You're welcome!
I tried Starbucks' PSL Frap last month. It was ok, but I wouldn't get it again.

I love the colours! My aunt has been taking some amazing pics on my family's ranch. Check them out if you are her friend on FB :) I tell her that she has to start an IG account! Her pics are stunning!!

5) I bought Carrie Underwood's new CD, Cry Pretty the other day. It isn't my favourite so far, but I do like a few of the songs. It takes awhile for some CDs to grow on me. Anyway, I have all of her CDs, so I have to keep up the tradition and continue buying them! Yes, I still buy CDs!

Random Post

Yes, I am still alive! I just haven't felt much like blogging lately. I had 12 or so posts in my blogging drafts hoping that I would magically get to them, but I never did. So, here are a culmination of those posts :)

First off..how can it be October already??? I find that this year is going by super fast (even if my days are somewhat slow!!)!! The weather in Kamloops has been gorgeous! We have had a few mornings of frost, which make is definitely feel like fall. Or, as I have been saying #Faltumn! Ha! Our back window's frost thing is broken, so Anker has ordered something off eBay, but it hasn't come yet. If it doesn't come soon, we won't be happy. We hope that we can fix it with that, otherwise we will have to spend $500 for a whole new back window, and frost-thing! Anyway, our fall has been really nice. I have gotten a few pictures of the fall leaves, unlike last year, when I only took a few. I love me some fall leaves pictures!!!

Here are a few things in point form:

Work: Work has been going well. I really am loving being in grade 2 again this year. The teacher I work with work well together, and we get each other :) We have a lot of laughs, and a lot groans, and generally, have a fun time. I love our school and its community so much!! It is really is an amazing place to work! Everyone cares about everyone, which is so nice!! The school has been really busy this year. We had school spirit week...which was crazy! The kids always go crazy for stuff like that. I had my "school" pictures done. We also had our Terry Fox "run", crazy hair day, and PJ day! That sure was a busy week!

Life/Marriage: Life has been going well. Anker has been in a good mood, which has been nice. He got the last tomatoes from our garden, and has been canning, jamming, freezing, and doing some baking, and of course, he has been knitting :) He went to church with me last week, which was great. He really liked it, and he will probably come again with me soon. I seem to busy; btwn, work, church things (though not a ton, sadly, but I am going to worship and prayer night on Wednesdays), errands, babysitting, visiting friends/family, and going to my friends' places when they are away for the wknd (have done that twice already). I am actually at my brother's place this wknd. A couple of weekends ago, I went to my friends house while they were away, and I watched TV, did my laundry, and then went to the park, and journaled. I am also taking a step back from Tupperware. I don't know if I will ever return to an active consultant. I do love their stuff, but I don't have the enterprenual  drive that it takes. Thanksgiving with my family was really nice. I will try and write about that soon. We have had a couple of dates, too. A few weeks ago, we went to see my brother's new office, and then tried a pizza place, and then went to a  trade show. It was really fun. We also try to have a date day where we run errands and then pick up a coffee or something to eat.We really are simple people. Anker had his bday last Monday. I got him a couple of gifts, and we had Chinese food, and we stayed home. I got him a chocolate cake from the grocery store, and we sat and talked while we ate for an hour. It was nice. I am thankful that it was pay day for me, so I could spoil him a bit.

Health/Finances/Anxiety/Sleep: My health has been pretty good. I was hoping to start going to the gym (ha!), but I haven't yet. I will probably start going again soon. I haven't been walking at all, which makes me sad. Ugh! But, I do a fair amount of walking at school, so at least I am not completely lazy! Money is ok..we have it...then we don't. I have started a summing saving fund, which I put money into every month, so that we can use it during the summer, when I am not working. Things were pretty tight even once I got back to work, but things seem to be ok now. We are catching up on bills. I still suffer from anxiety from time to time. I had tried to lower my AD meds, but I am back up to where I was. Oh well. What can you do? Anker has done quite well in taking his AD meds, and he is a happier person. Yay! He is hoping to get $ for compression gloves that he can wear both indoors and out, to help with the cold. I am on a sleeping pill at night. I don't know on how I feel about it, but I won't take on nights when I don't have to be up the next morning. I was having a real problem with falling asleep this summer, and for most of September. I am also taking Melatonin (though not on nights where I take my med).

All The Free Stuff: My BFF, Jill, and I were talking towards the end of summer about on how certain people (celebs) can get free stuff, and we were wondering on how we could get that, too! Well, a week or so later, she finds me when I am out and about, and tells me that she has a box of products for me to try :) I was hoping to get a blog post about it, but I never did, so this blurb will have to suffice. I did do some Instastories about it, though. I was hoping to repay with her a box of things to try, but I never did. Oh well...maybe around Christmas?
                                                       My box of #allthefreestuff!
I will leave you with a few fun and beautiful fall pics! You can check out my Instagram for more!

Just a few more things: My friend gave me some DoTerra Oils to try. I have been wavering about getting into them a bit. Mainly for sleep and to stave colds away...I nearly got the starter kit from Young Living, but it was a lot of money to put, and I am still not sold on them. Anyway...I will see on what I think of these. Thank you for my friend for giving me some (and yes, I asked).
A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I went to The Noble Pig for apples and "drinks" (I don't drink, and I don't drink much at all, anyway). Every 2nd Thursday, we meet at coffee houses, or watering holes to eat, drink, and connect! We had a fun time, and I loved their Bavarian Pretzels. And yes, I ate all the fries!
