5 on Friday; 10 Things of Thankful Link up Party!!

I had to really think of what to say for 5 on F and 10TT:) I haven't had the greatest week. I am REALLY stressed about work (well, looking for another job in the fall), where or if we should move, and finances. I am working off of 4 hours' of sleep. We also have a family wknd this wknd. It took me awhile to think up 5-10 things that I am thankful for/that are my favs for the wk, but once I started, I couldn't stop, and I will have to save some for next week:)

Anyhoo...in no particular order, here they are:)

ONE

My Groups on FB. belong to and am involved in about 4 infertility groups on FB, including one I have made myself. I love it. I love being able to connect with other ladies who are going through similar struggles. Honestly, it is has been a life safer (or a life saner!!)

TWO

I love having my brother who I can talk to about things related to my field. He is in similar field as me, and when I am having a hard time with making decisions regarding my field, or having a tough time, such as last night, I love knowing that he is there, and he is a listening ear.

THREE

I spent some time with this little guy this week. Yah, he's a charmer:)
He and I spent sometime in a school playground, then we all ended up going out and having milkshakes at Denny's. Mom had just picked up the G-rents, and we all had some fun before going out separate ways.

FOUR

This is kind of two parted...1) I stood up to two people this week. I am very happy with myself. 2) My coworker decided that she would work for me. I am SOOO very happy:) I get the whole wknd off with family!!!

FIVE

Whoever invented The Little Green Plug is a genius!!

SIX

I discovered (well, was told of) a new app this week..Zedge.com. Love it! They have wall papers, ringtones...aaand it's free! Yes, it is!! I believe they have one for Android and for iPhone.

SEVEN

I get paid from my old/new job today. And that I have a new (old) job! I am very blessed. I am also able to buy a few things that I have waiting for me at the store. I actually only bought one thing, as I really can't afford both of them at the moment..but, I will get the DVD on Monday, I think.

EIGHT

My Avon Products. There are three that I am using that I just love..
Extra lasting lip colour. Love it. They also taste and smell good, too.

Apricot and Shea butter Body Wash. It is like spreading apricot jam all over. True story.

This is Avon's version of their BB Cream. I have only used it once, but I really like it. It doesn't go on (or feel) heavy.

NINE

I love these new Fruit and Oat Cookies from Starbucks:) I get them nearly every time I go there. True story. Love them. And they have fruit and nuts, so that makes them healthy, right? RIGHT??
Yes, I take pictures of my food. So sue me.

TEN

I am thankful for Jeremiah 29:11. I REALLY need to read that over, and over, and over again right now. Did I mention I was stressed? Yup, I need that verse right now. That is actually my life verse. I have re-read that over, and said that over again to myself.

And that is over this week. There are a few more things that I could mention..I am looking forward to reading Nicholas Sparks' book Safe Haven that I borrowed from the library. I am loving the show Friends right now (well, I always love that show, but I am watching it again right now), and I am done SSN 3, and waiting for SSN 4 from the library. I will save those officially for next week, though. I know, my blogs are always too long. My apologies:)

I have been busy this morning; packing; organizing Anker to finish packing; writing cards and wrapping gifts. A certain Little Miss turned one last week, and I wanted to send her a gift, so I am getting that ready to ship to with G&G when they go back. Who else is getting excited about the Royal Baby? Yes, I am..maybe. Just a bit. You know. For Morale.

Happy Friday!

Magazine/Book Post

Well, it has been a bit of a week. I am VERY stressed as to what I should do and where we should move (or if we should move), my trying to find more permanent work, etc. I actually had a couple of down days. I NEED to know where God wants us...sigh. Hubby would love to move to the country; he would love a dog; he needs more down time...I need a job that it relevant to my schooling, that I enjoy, and that brings money in. I am going to wait it out for the summer..most places that I want to apply (or reapply) to will be hiring in the fall, anyway. So, I just need to rest IN the Lord, be patient, and try to enjoy the summer.

So, on to my magazine/book post:)

I actually blame my mom for my addiction love of magazines. When I was a child, Mom loooved (and seemed to have more time, not sure how, since she had three littles) magazines. Her favourite was Good Housekeeping. She would keep them for recipes, tips, etc. That was before the internet, where you HAD to keep them if you wanted to well, keep the information. She kept most of her back issues in the sewing room where I would spend hours  some time down there reading. My favourite articles in GH were a regular column called "My Problem, and how I solved it". I would re-read them and re-read them. I am still sad that GH doesn't run them anymore. She also loved Ladies Home Journal, Shape, and Chatelaine (the Canadian to RedBook, which she also loved). So, I blame her. Totally.

Well, I to this day love them. I am a very tactile person. Sure, I love reading the headlines on TV/the Net, but I love to get a copy of a magazine in my hand, sit down with a coffee, or tea, and relax and read. I love People, US Weekly, RedBook, Cosmo, Glamour, Chatelaine, Canadian Living, well, pretty much any or all of them. I also LOVE Women's World. Even to this day, if I don't have ANY money to spring for a more expensive mag, I will somehow scrounge around for enough money to by a WW. I actually didn't by ANY magazine last week, not even a WW. Oh well. This isn't to say that I buy EVERY magazine out there..I usually buy a 10 or so  few every month, and then I get the rest from the library. So, I definitely can spend hours time reading magazines during the day. At one time, a few years ago (before I was married), I had about 6 magazines delivered to my house a month. True story. I used to keep a TON of magazines, but I finally decided to get rid some. I still keep a few special ones, but for the most part, I get rid of them after a few weeks or months. I also tend to read magazines that I buy right away, whereas if I get them from the library, then I tend to take much longer in reading them..but it sometimes it can and does go the other way around.

So, on to books. I don't really remember my first full book that I read. I know I read a lot of the Baby Sitters Club. Please don't judge me. It was my era:) But as far as "adult" books (no, NOT those kind!), I think my first book was probably one of the Janette Oke series. Probably the first one was Love Comes Softly. My brother may or may not have read her Seasons of the Heart series. Other than our love of playing music, and of course, our love for God, Mom and Dad passed down their love for reading. My grandpa LOVED to read. During his last few years on earth, while he was really sick, he spent HOURS reading. Mom would spend HOURS reading to us in the evening. If you can get a hold of it, try and find Rainbow Valley (not the Anne of Green Gables version). I think it was written by Christmas Carol, or Carol Christmas, or someone. A very good book, and a great book to read aloud to your kids. I think I was in my early teens when she read it us. I remember really loving it. We would spend hours at the library, finding just the perfect book for us.  For the most part, Mom let us read pretty much what we wanted, unless it had something to do with witchcraft and evil spells, etc. For instance Mom would prefer that the boys (I say prefer because they are older and she really doesn't have a say in what they read..well, I guess "I" is still underage) they not read Harry Potter, but she has allowed them to read the Hunger Games series, and they also have read the LOTR series. Mom and the kids still go there, especially during the school year. K and Bebop go as often as I can. They both just love books.

I love Danielle Steel, as formulated as she is for a secular author, and Beverly Lewis in Christian fiction. I think my favourite author is Francine Rivers. I LOOOOVE her books:)I think my favourites of hers are Redeeming Love, and the Atonement Child. I also would read "obscure"/stand alone books, like Secret Daughter (very good, btw), and A Soldiers Wife. That being said, I don't usually read "obscure" books, as they don't really tend to hold my interest. I have also started and stopped more books than I care to say. I did start on a book at Christmas, which I didn't finish. I also started on The Notebook, which I didn't finish.  The book has to really capture my attention within the first few pages, or I put it down. I have, gotten half way into a book, and put it down, for which I feel guilty, but there are so many books to read, that life is wasted by reading a book you don't like right? I am still trying to finish The Mercy. I have also got Safe Haven from the library. I will try and read that one, as I want to watch the movie, and I have it on hold. I have read (and I bought it) and loved The Help. I may or may not have thought about getting into the Fifty Shades of Grey series. I go through months-years even- without reading a book, then I will suddenly read and read for a few months or so. Is anyone else like that? Well, I guess that about sums it up for this post. I should go and get on to reading my book that is WAY overdue at the library.

I will do a 5 on Friday and Weekly Wrap up Tomorrow.

PS...please tell me, what are your favourite books or magazines?

miscellany monday

I am linking up with http://www.carissagraham.com/ today for miscellany Monday.

1. There are people in my life who I am annoyed with. 3 people, to be exact. UGH! I wish people would do what they said they would do. Yes, I have flaked on people a few times (yes, even the last few years), but I really try to uphold my end of an agreement or bargain, or plan.

2. I thought Obama was going to close GB. Why hasn't he done that yet? Politians!!!

3. I  am grumpy because of several things today....no you know what in a few weeks, and I got my you know what today. GRR!!!

4. I am sad that I have wait FOREVER until I get the next seasons of Big Bang Theory. I am on the waiting list. I am number 10 or something!

5. We have NO money for gas, and about an 8th of a tank until Friday. You do the math.

6. I did enjoy a nice day off yesterday. We slept in, didn't go to church, and just hung out all day. I love those lazy days.

7. I have been trying to eat healthier these days. I try so hard, then in the afternoon (mid afternoon), I end up eating something not healthy, and/or a dessert. Like today, I had a semi-healthy breakfast; watered down apple juice, with Target brand of Honey Nut Cheerios, with strawberries. I am having veggies and cheese, and more veggies for lunch. Then I will probably have a cr@ppy supper, or late night snack, or both. The other day, I downed a McD's quarter pounder meal; true story. I love my fats and carbs. The funny thing is, ice cream will often sit in our freezer for EVER, because I am not a huge ice cream fan (well, depending on the flavour..vanilla, and some strawberries are soo good). Like yesterday, we went for ice cream, and I had two HUGE scoops, and ate the whole thing. But if that were in our freezer, I probably would take forever it eating it...odd, right? I love my fruits and veggies; but I have to be the mood for them. Or at least want to have them. Don't even talk to me about exercise. I live in a hilly area, and I hate walking UP everywhere I go!! I know, excuses, excuses, right? I know I should be healthier; I have PCOS, diabetes, high cholesterol...plus I should lower my salt and liquid intake. I am gaining weight, when I should be (and I did, but I gained it back) losing the weight:(

Anyway, that was the healthy (or rather un-healthy) post that I wanted to write about. I do love my smoothies in the morning, and my orange/cranberry juice. I am also loving (but not having much as late) steel-cut oats. I love bananas, apples, baby carrots, baby tomatoes, celery, corn on the cob, potatoes, nectarines, peaches, ALL berries, and raw apricots and raw plums. I love asparagus, and of course, spinach/lettuce, and of course sweet potatoes/yams.

I will never go to clean and or raw eating. That is just weird to me.

Happy Monday!

Weekly Wrap Up, and Did I do the Right thing?

Yah, I know I should do one of my posts that I said I would do, but I thought I would do my wkly wrap up. I read (but didn't participate) in a Blog Tip Link up with Kisses and Crossants, and one of the tips said to not blog a long post (but blog often)..soo, I will do a weekly wrap up today, and another post tomorrow.

So, my week (well, since Tuesday). Well, Tuesday, we got back into town around 1 or so. I had a few errands to run; and by errands, I mean coffee and journaling at Tim Hortons:) I also went to the library, and I went to Superstore. I watched a couple episodes of Y&R, and hung out. I don't remember what I did. Weds; I relaxed and watched TV, and did who knows what in the morning. Then, I went to Starbucks for a drink, and tried to do a few things, but they never really panned out, so I went to the bank, to a few things, and then I went to work. Work was fine, but as I was backing out of the parking lot, I accidentally backed up into a co-worker, who I thought had already left. It was not a good day!!! Thankfully, I did more damage to my car than to hers. I drove my friend home, and on our way, we went to Burger King for ice cream; I had a sundae pie, which was amazing. We had tea at my friends and we watched this odd show called Panic Button. What a scary show that is! I came home and I FB'd for a bit. Thursday, it such a lovely day, that I left a bit early, and I hung out in the park downtown. I read magazines, and drank my iced tea. I went to work, drove my friend home and came home. Friday, I worked from 12:30 to 5:30. Friday morning, I just hung out here; I was going to meet up with Mom and my brother, but it didn't work out, so I grabbed McD's for lunch, and went to work. Friday evening, I was going to go out for coffee, but I decided to come home and sit out on our complex's green space, and then I decided to watch a movie that I got from the library, which I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Saturday, I worked all day, then I went to a friends' bday party. We had fun sitting outside visiting in the sun. We started a movie (or rather, I started it, as I ended up leaving half way through), called the Wonderful Burt-Something...it was funny, but a bit strange. Today, we decided to go to church. We slept in and I FB'd, etc. I watched the last episode of the third season of BBT, and watched the last half of a movie (AMISH GRACE) that I started yesterday at work. We also watched The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which was very interesting. I could definitely appreciate some of the points in the movie. I decided to go to the beach, but by the time I took a very cold dip in the river (which was much colder than normal, imho), and laid in the sun for awhile, the sun went away. I took this as my cue to get on with my afternoon. I left to visit our Pastor to Seniors who is in the hospital, and then Anker and I went for ice cream, and then did a small grocery shop. Am now just watching TV, and I may start a movie later (although it is nearly 10pm, so I probably wont).

I am working lots this week, and I get pd from one of my jobs this Friday. Yay!!! I may take another trip to the beach, and try to finish up my Beverly Lewis book this week. Not sure what else I will do this week, other than work.

Ok, so on to the next part of this post. I often wonder, sometimes several times a day if I did the right (or wrong) thing by turning down the job last month. How do I know whether to take a not so perfect job, so I can advance, and get a better job, and to get it on my resume, or if I need to refuse it, because I know that that job is not what I want, nor what I can physically do? Should I have taken it and just "sucked it up" for a few months? The problem with doing that is that I have tried to "take a job for a few months" only for it to last for, well, years. I know this was a job that I couldn't do, even after the first day I was tired. Do I not take a job based on pride (the good or bad pride)? I am thinking that if I don't get the two or three jobs that I would like to have in/by the fall, I may go back and see about starting out with them again....you know, let them know that I didn't give the job a full chance....hmm.... I think i did the right thing for me at time, given our circumstances. Maybe I had a bad attitude about it, or maybe I didn't want to me working at the moment, given the events that were going on in my life. Anyway, I did it, and that is that. Life goes on, right?

Well, I have been at this for an hour...I should go and get ready for bed.

What being Canadian Means to Me, and our Canada Day Wknd:)

We had an awesome C-Day wknd!!! We very nearly didn't go, and I am SO glad we did:) Anker really needed some time away. We also ended up staying until Tuesday, and again, I am SO glad we did:) We had a great time with family and friends. The weather was subperb, which was wonderful.

I was hoping to find some more some inventions made my Canadians for actual Canada Day, but since I was in a hurry, I only found the link that I posted. However, I found a few more (hopefully, the complete??) list of Canadian inventions on good old Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_inventions (please click). We are a smart people, aren't we?

Before, I continue, I wish my American friends and family, living in Canada or in the States (or my Canadian Friends/family living in the US with THEIR family and friends). I hope today is fabulous!!

There were two SLIGHT disappointments to our (or at least mine) CD. One, was our local Superstore usually sells CD T-shirts, and every year (except for last year) we each buy a t-shirt for CD (and of course, all through out the year). I went in a couple of times, and they didn't seem to have them (I even asked, and they said that they didn't have any in stock, and I looked where their CD stuff was). I did go in AFTER we got back, and sure enough, they were there at the front. I did buy a couple, and was hoping to score them half off (or something), but in the end, it didn't work out, and I took them back. I hope to score some more this wknd, when they go on sale. Oh, and they DID have them for over a month, but they weren't were they usually were. The other disappointment, was that we didn't see any fireworks (we were going to buy some, but we forgot). We didn't end up coming back in time on Monday to catch them at the park. Oh well. We had much more fun with family, anyway.

So, like I said, our wknd was awesome. We left around 6:30 on Saturday, as I had to work all day. The trip was great, and we got in around 8. We chatted with family, and ate ice cream. We went to the B&B, located on the ranch...and first things first..we had to do this..

Slept in and relaxed the next morning, and spent some time in the sun, chatting before going to church. Church was good...ended up going to the store to grab some more food. Had lunch, then swam in the pool, and laid in the sun. SUCH FUN! Went with hubby to a friends place down the road who has a dessert deck...with yummy cheesecake.
Then we went home and had supper. Had a nice evening, visiting and we watched the third season of The Big Bang Theory. Monday, we spent the day doing this and that. Time on the farm is never boring. For those who think that people who live in the farm sit and knit all day are sadly mistaken.
There is always something to do on the farm. I did go with mom and Baby to the store, where I may or may not have bought him a small slushee, and he may nor may not have drank the whole cup. We also did a few other things. I did go swimming with Baby, which was fun:) He didn't say in very long, though. I wasn't able to take any pictures of him in the pool. I did take a few of him after, though.

Bebop eating his slushee. He really liked it.
Laying in the sun:)

Monday evening, we had our Canada Day/Family BBQ. We had a nice evening, complete with Ketchup chips, and Maple Leaf Cookies.
Aren't we Canadian?

They seemed to be a hit, because I only had one ML cookie, and a few Ketchup chips. The food was really good, too:) Everyone brought their own meat, and a salad to share. There was more than enough food for everyone.

My SIL's Uncle and his family came to visit HIS brother and my aunt (did you catch that?) so there were extra people, which made it fun. Bebop had a fun time, too. Poor boy only wanted to play, and there were no other kids to play with. He did have fun playing croquet, though. He played with adults for an entire game, and had a ton of fun:)
Vienna and B doing a pre-game practice:)

Krystle made cake:) SHE is the one that usually organizes a Canada Day party each year. This cake was gluten free...it was really good.

                                                               Baby playing croquet.

Anker also got these flags from the dollar store, which were a huge hit, and we wished we had bought more...

Everyone left around 11 or so. I ended up going back to the B&B and had a drink and a Coffee Crisp, which is also exclusive to Canada.

We cleaned up the next morning, and left around 11:30. I also came home with mosquito bites.
I also did this on Tuesday....
Canadian, eh? (I was at Tim Hortons).

So, what it means to be Canadian (for me). This is similar to the posts a did a few weeks back; one about living in BC, and one about Freedom. I love living in Canada. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else..ok, maybe I would, like in Africa or France, or England, but I would always want to come back. I love that Canada has free health care. I love how patriotic we are. (Americans actually come to celebrate with US) I love how we have freedom of speech, religion, free choice (even though we don't always necessarily agree. I love how our soldiers fight for our country (speaking of which, I was shocked to find out that there was a bomb threat in Victoria, our provinces capital...but it was thwarted..how scary would that have been!). I love how we Canadians love the Royal Family, and tha we embrace all things British. I love how Canada has awesome talent (excluding Justin Bieber)..Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Steven Martin, Martin Short, Alan Thicke, Kiefer Southerland, William Shatner, Nellie Furtado, Shania Twain to name a few. I love how we have come up with some AMAZING inventions, and we are home to the Beaver Tail, Poutine, a Double Double, Ketchup Chips, Smarties, Coffee Crisp, Naniamo Bars etc. How we have awesome shoes, Corner Gas, Continuum, Artic Air, Royal Canadian Air Farce, Rick Mercer Report, This Hour has 22 Minutes, Flashpoint, etc. Our awesome magazines; Canadian Living, Chatelaine, MacLeans. Okay, we only have three, but they are darn good ones. (for more Canadian-only related things, see my posted links).

There is another site, which is pretty awesome. Huffingtonpost.ca is also a good site.
Twilight was filmed in BC, Once Upon a Time is filmed in BC. A lot of Made for TV movies are filmed in Canada.
BC Lions, Vancouver WhiteCaps, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators, well, you get the drift..basically the whole Canadian NFL franchise, and all of the CFL.

I also love how we kicked American's butts in the war of 1812:) I love our flag:) I love how our money is of different colours:) I love that we can lay claim to one of the longest beaches/coast lines in the world. I love that we have BOTH oceans on either side of us. I love that celebrities come out here to vacation. We have the best skiing and surfing, and golfing in the world...oh and the best wines. We lay claim to the best and most apples grown in the world, the best Wineries are here...I could go on:) I love our freedom that we have. We can worship and be free, because of the ones who have gone before us to fight. I love how we have four seasons. I love how we have (usually) snow for Christmas.

I LOVE CANADA!!!

Random-ness (And Floods and Fires)

Y'all, I STILL can't seem to upload photos from my laptop to the blog. I am really upset. I think my laptop just needs be updated, ...
