Hey!! I used to have a blog! I just haven't been as into blogging lately. I didn't want to be home much to do it, then when I am home, I am tired....then, just like cleaning (or anything else), I was feeling overwhelmed. I decided that I didn't need to do 8+ posts about EACH.INDIVIDUAL.THING. I could just do ONE post about all the things!
I hope your Autumn is going well :) We have had a good one, for the most part. Our neighbour moved out, Anker and I both got sick (he was way worse than me), my uncle died, We had Thanksgiving....Canada had its Federal Election on Monday, I even started a new book. Oh, and good tv is back! I have also started a new show called "Carol's Second Act", and I love it! I might start another show called "Bob Hearts Abishola." There is another show called "All Rise", which sounds interesting. Of course, there are the plethora of Hallmark Movies, as well as other movies that I am watching. I still haven't finished "Call the Midwife" from last season, and my PVR deleted it, so I will get the DVD set from the library. I was hoping that "Last Man Standing" would be renewed, but alas, I think that is over. I also had hoped that "Jann" would come back, but I haven't heard or seen anything. I also just got started on a "new" show called "Kim's Convenience". It is similar to "Corner Gas", but set in Toronto with a family who immigrated from S. Korea. I have watched a few episodes, and it is pretty funny. I could spend probably 18 hours a day watching TV :) AND, starting on November first on W Network, Christmas movies will be on almost 24 hours a day!
So....here are a few things from the rest of our summer (not necessarily in order):
My friends took me out to dinner at a local restaurant in July, and it was SO GOOD! If you are local, I would highly recommend Match Eatery. Definitely delicious!! I also went to an outside play with a local theatre group called Project X Theatre. We went to the "pay what you can" matinee on the Saturday of the BC Day Long Wknd, and it was really fun! We went to their production of "Cinderella". SOOO fun!
My next door/across the street neighbour and I went to Shopper's Drug Mart Summer Beauty Gala, and it was fun :) I had hoped to win a beauty basket, but I didn't (so sad!), but I had fun getting "made over". We went to Kamloops RibFest afterwards, and although it was fun, it was very expensive to buy ribs, but we enjoyed trying it out, anyway! About 10 Rib places from Canada come and essentially have a 3 day Rib Contest :) There was lots of fun to be had for everyone! The Dragon Boat races were also happening then, so that was pretty fun to see.
The next week, Anker and I went to my parents' for a few days. My brother Luke and his family came for a few days. We enjoyed visiting with them, and we had fun seeing Baby E. We relaxed, watched TV, visited, had a weiner roast, harvested garlic, went on quad rides, and who knows what else :) I had hoped to do a blog post on each individual event listed above, but I wasn't the "blogging frame of mind" in the later part of the summer/early fall (though, as you can see, I did do some blogging in September), and I was feeling overwhelmed with "all the blogging", so I am combining them all in one :)
In September, I went to my uncle's 65th bday party. I ended up making a weekend of it, and I left on Friday. I went and I grabbed a few things from Wall-Mart, which made my getting there late, and I had to drive some of it in the dark. I hate night driving! Mom and I froze corn on Saturday, and I think we watched a movie or two :) His bday party was on Sunday night, so I left early (!!) Monday morning! Fun times! I was SO tired by the time I was half way to town :)
In early October, my uncle Ted went to see Jesus at the end of a very hard, but short battle with pancreatic cancer. I took the Monday off for the funeral, and since Anker wasn't feeling well, I went by myself. I ended up staying over night, and again, left early (!!) Tuesday morning. I am glad I went though, as I was able to have some time with family whom I never see. Family is very important to us, so I love to spend time with family whenever possible.
The second week of October, it was Canadian Thanksgiving. I love that TG is in October (IMHO), and for the first time, in well, ever..we had it here in town. A and K hosted, and it was pretty fun, and nice not to have to worry about driving anywhere. On the Saturday of the LW, we had the dinner, followed by a little party for J, who had turned two the previous week. Mom and Dad came with I, and Aunty June (who had just lost her husband the week prior), and we had a fun (albeit noisy!) time! Right after dinner, we went for a walk, which has been a tradition in our family for years! It was fun walking in town this time, vs walking on the ranch. We got to "show" Mom and Dad some areas of town that they might not have seen or walked otherwise (they come into town a lot, but rarely do they have time for walks!). Unfortunately, it wasn't a beautiful day (I actually had to wear my WINTER coat!), but at least it wasn't pouring with rain. After our walk, we had the little party for J. His half siblings and their mom came over to help celebrate, and it was nice to meet them. J got lots of NOISY toys...including a drum set!...but he seemed to have fun :) We had cake as well as pie :) Anker, who had left for awhile, came back as everyone was leaving, and he had a piece of pie and tea with us. But, not before J opened up his drum set! It was fun being there for that :) Sunday, I slept in, so I stayed home from church. I watched movies, did laundry, and I changed the sheets on our bed. Monday, I slept in, and I did a few things. I went over to my neighbours to watch a movie, and then came back over to watch more TV. Yes, that should have been the weekend where I cleaned and switched my wardrobe.....buuuuut I didn't :) I actually don't wear a lot of warm clothes, b/c our house is fairly warm, and so is our school...so I don't wear a ton of sweaters. I will see about doing some switching this wknd.
K is away for awhile, so I have helped out with the boys a bit. I am actually here right now! It is a PD day for we CEAs today, so I got to sleep in! We actually had quite the windstorm this morning, where a lot of people were without power, and thankfully, us or As family was impacted. It is gloriously sunny, so we might go for a walk later.
I have been busy having coffee with friends, enjoying the fall colours, looking after kids, relaxing, running errands, working, reading, going to DM sales product parties (Thirty One Gifts, and Steeped Tea/Sipology).....you get the idea.
I love where we live!!
Oh, and I have house-sat three times in the last couple of months. Twice in the later summer, and once in September. I had fun, y'all! I loved having the house, the TV, and the bed to myself :) Of course, I missed Anker after 24 hours, but I still enjoyed being on my own :)
My friend and I go for drives about one a week or so, and the other week, she took me to a Bubble Tea place :) Yum! I have had it before, but it was years ago, and I am not even 100% sure about that. I would definitely try it again.
I think that pretty much covers the last couple of months. I will do a Five on Friday post, which will highlight some more things there as well.
