Happy Thursday/Friday!!! I hope everyone had a great week! We had a pretty good one. Nothing too exciting, but it was good.
1)
I bought two shirts this last wk. I bought one at Wal-Mart for $10, and another one (which I haven't tried yet) off of a bidding site for $2.
2)
I love my position at work. It's like a vacation, y'all! I mean, I am BUSY, but it is TOTALLY different. LOVE it! More hours (more money!), and less clients (less crazy-busy); now, that's the kind of math that April likes to do (said in the voice of Joey from FRIENDS)!
3)
I love me some Tic-Tacs. They are like little drops of heaven. So, when I found a new flavour, well, I had to buy them. They are strawberry/cherry. Yum.
4)
The pumpkin pie blizzard is back at DQ. I tried a small one today. I actually didn't think that I had tried it before, but once I tasted it, I remembered that I had. It was SO GOOD!! Thankfully, tho..I am not a huge Blizzard fan, so I won't be tempted to buy them....much. LOL.
5)
Good Numbers. My A1C (my average blood sugar in the last three months) was 6.9 (yes, I have had lower, but that is still pretty good), and my Cholesteral was low (3.41, I think?). So, I am very happy with that.
6)
Toasted Graham Lattes are at Starbucks...am thinking that I need to try one. Has anyone else? I still love my PSL, though :)
7)
Ok, so this hasn't happened yet, but Saturday, my friends and I are celebrating our other friends birthday (who also happens to be our pastor's wife). We are going to Dorians...hopefully, it was be good.
8)
New TV started this week. What did everyone think of this wks premieres? Big Bang, Grey's Saving Hope to name a few?
9)
Canadian Thanksgiving is less than a month away (actually TWO WEEKS!), and I am STOKED, people!!! Food, family, fun, food, faith, food :) My sisters-in-law and I are planning it...so it's a win-win for my mom.
10)
Calico is hilarious! She has been really coming out of her shell the last week. She has been much more playful, and staying on our bed longer at night. She isn't very graceful, which makes her even more hysterical! She is making us laugh every day! She has been very silly, which has been awesome. We just heart her.
10.1)
Hubby made supper tonight (steak, potatoes and some kale or spinach thing from our garden), and he cleaned up the kitchen a bit earlier today...AND he made cookies! Yum!!!
10.2)
I used my benefits again this week. It was one of the first times that I have used them. We usually just use hubby's disability benefits, but this time, I used my work (which, I apparently used last time, but I don't remember, cause I was drugged out). I also got another PINK toothbrush!!
I hope to finish up a few posts that are in my drafts..and do up some pictures...most of the pictures are on my IG, anyway...so if you are on IG, come follow me here!

Friday Link Ups
Yes, it's Sunday night/Monday morning. Yes, some of these will include things that happened during the wknd. No, I don't care.
1. I wore make up for 5 days in a row. FIVE DAYS! That NEVER happens!!! I was planning on wearing some over the wknd, but well, you know. I didn't have time to put it on.
2. 9 to 5. The movie, that is. I (Anker didn't come, as usual) went up to visit A and K in their new place, and I brought them supper. We ended up watching 9 to 5, and I had never watched that before, so that was kind of fun.
3. I bought a new T-shirt from Wal-Mart. It is only $10. I love it. I was going to take a picture of it, but I forgot. LOL. I will post of a picture of it this wk.
4. Be Bold (when trying new restaurants). I was going to do a separate post on this, but I doubt that I will, so I will just say that last wknd, my friend had her birthday dinner at BOLD Pizzeria. I had never been there, and I had been wanting to try it. I LOVED it. It was a bit expensive, but I would definitely go back there.
5. Here's one you'll laugh at (or groan). Yesterday (Saturday), I fell (yes, FELL) out of bed. What am I? A baby or toddler? LOL. I have NO IDEA as to why I did this, but it was as funny as it was concerning. I think I must have had a dream. I do sometimes hug the side/edge of the bed, so that was probably what happened, but that was a first. I fell on my stomach, so today (and even yesterday), everything hurts. I fell so hard, that it woke Anker up. Oops. We both had a good laugh, but I am still stumped as to why I fell in the first place.
It's late..and those are all that I can think of for now. I hope to do a TToT tomorrow.

Weekend Wrap Up/Let's Be Friends Blog Hop
Yes, I do realize that it is Thursday, and that I am JUST NOW doing a WW and LBFBH (Tuesday). Oh well...it's my blog, and the link up is still open :)
So, last Friday, I had taken it off, partly to help A and K pack and move. It was pay day, so I ran a few errands, did a Wal-Mart run, and took the car to get the oil changed, and I grabbed some lunch. I started getting an annoying cough, which I wasn't too concerned with, as I was feeling great. I dismissed it, and went on with my day. I then went to K and A's to help pack a bit. I packed up the rest of H's room, and then ended up staying for supper. Anker was back at home, and did something with our bundles of apples. I started helping K pack up the kitchen, and then my cough started turning into a cold. Awesome. I left at around 9 or so, came home, and created a "cold care package" for myself. I just relaxed in our room, and Facebooked, etc.
I drank a fair amount of hot tea, with lemon and honey. It actually helped. I slept fairly well, but not great.
I was feeling ok in the morning, so with the apples that Anker had cut up, I made an apple (and plum) crisp. I also made zucchini chocolate cookies. They weren't the best cookies, and I don't know if I would make them again, but here is the recipe. I left around 1 or two, and went up to their new place (Anker wasn't feeling well..or something), and brought my cookies. I kind of stood around for a bit, as there was a lot of people, and I wasn't feeling super great. I ended up setting up H's room, which was kind of fun. I left after an hour or so, and took A to drop off the U-Haul, and to take him to the old house to grab his car. We just relaxed Saturday evening. I don't even know what we had for supper (or even if we had supper). I watched a couple of movies, Steel Maglolis and Boyhood, and went to bed late...as usual.
Sunday morning, I ended up going to our church's pancake breakfast, which they hosted along with three other churches (my brother and SIL's included) that meet at the building. The service that we had after was awesome. I came home, and tried not to fall asleep, since A and K were coming over after doing their walk through. The BC Lions were playing (sadly, they lost), so hubby was watching that. They came at around 3 or so, and stayed for the last hour of the game, and then left. I then went and had a nap. I watched SON OF GOD while I was laying down. I also watched ALL GOOD THINGS, which was well, interesting. I was hoping to he the CCMA's, but they had already aired. Oh well. We just had leftovers and snacks for supper. I will sometimes have a pop corn supper, but I didn't feel like getting all the stuff out, so I think I just had mac n cheese. I had another late night.
Monday, I met up with Jill for coffee at Starbucks, and then went to the library for a bit. Anker had made cabbage rolls up for supper, so they were ready to be put in the oven. We had perogies and cabbage rolls for supper on Monday. Best of all...hubby made supper AND cleaned up!! We just relaxed, watched the news, and I think we watched a two eps of Y&R (ther were 4 on our PVR, but I refused to watch four hours' worth..so, I just watched the last two)), and then I watched Judge Judy in our room, and hung out.
So, that my/our wknd. I know...so very exciting!!!

FYI: I was debating about doing the Blog-tember Challenge, but I haven't even begun, so I certainly won't be starting from Day 1, but I do hope to do a few days' worth. I also might still connect with the Show Me Tuesday Link ups from this past Tuesday. I haven't fully decided yet though. Does that make me not a cool blogger?

Friday Link Ups/TToT
Am linking up with my usual Friday Link ups, and am also linking up with TToT :)
Yes, I do realize that is Monday. And yes, I have had almost a week off. I have pretty much spent that on the computer, and with people...and doing some cleaning, and clearly, not blogging. I think part of the problem is that I have SO MANY posts (including link ups) that I want to do. Sigh. Anyway...here they (TToT, and my Friday Faves) are for this wk.
1) Spending time with H (last week)
Last week, in an attempt to help A and K with their move (while doing as little as work as possible...ha!), I offered to take H for a few hours. We had lunch together, and watched a movie, and went to the park for a bit. He also "helped" hubby take down some of the garden and sunflowers. He had a fun time.
2) Hubby that loves to can/preserve fruits and veggies
Hubby is amazing with preserving. He LOVES to do it. He has canned, made jam, pickled, frozen whatever veggie/fruit we have gotten/grew or been given. I am SO GLAD that he likes to do this. I haven't taken any pictures of that, but trust me, he does an awesome job.
3) Yummy baking (muffins and turnovers)
Hubby also likes to tackle crazy projects...like baking pastry. He did an awesome job, and the turnovers were SO GOOD! I also made plum/apple crisp, and chocolate zucchini cookies over the wknd, and I made muffins last wknd.
Anker and I made zucchini and carrot muffins the other day. Yum!!! You can find the recipe here. My cousins wife posted, and I thought they would be great to make, and I wasn't wrong.
4) Date day with hubby
Last week (Thursday?), Anker and I ran a few errands. We went to the dollar store, and we also went grocery shopping. I know. It was wild.
5) PSL/SCM
This was actually my second PSL. I forgot to take a picture of my first one. It was VERY GOOD!
I got this today. I wasn't planing on going out again for awhile, but my friend wanted to meet up (we usually give each other SBX cards for our bdays, and sometimes our tradition is to enjoy a drink together). I didn't think we would get together so quick..anyway...we did, and I saw that they had pecan tarts. Umm..yum. I mean, they aren't as good my moms or sisters, but they are pretty darn good. I asked them to heat it up, and put on whipped cream. And yes, I had another PSL.
I got myself a Salted Caramel Mocha the other day. It was very good. I got it through the drive-thru, so when I took a picture, it was a sad-looking. But it was an SCM, honest!
I don't take credit for finding this gem, but when I saw this on Cassie's blog, I HAD to at least save it.
6) Time with Friends
I have been kind of missing my family lately. I was thinking the other day on how I wish we could all get together (I am thinking of my dads side, but I miss Mom's side of the family, too!), and have a fun-filled evening of food, laughter, and lots of talking! I can't wait until Thanksgiving. Anyway...time with friends is awesome, and always greatly needed, and enjoyed, and my girlfriends and I met up at Starbucks on Monday (I think?), which was a great time. And yes, that is when I had my first PSL of the season. My friend Jill had a birthday on Friday, and some of her friends arranged us to meet up at a new restaurant in town. I will do a separate post about that. It was an early evening, as they had other plans, and I wasn't feeling well, but we still had a fun time.
7) New Position at work/Awesome Bosses/Co-workers
I am VERY happy about this. I got a new temporary position at work, with more hours (which we need right now), and less clients. I am so, so excited! I start on Sunday. Also, I love my bosses and co-workers. They make work so much fun!
8) Family who helps out (produce/money)
My family have been helping us out a bit...a bit of money, and a bit of produce. We are very happy about both.
9) Awesome TV Starting up soon
DWTS started tonight. Grey's, TBBT, 2BG, and TOC are starting up soon. Those are the only Prime Time shows that I watch.
10) Movies from the library
I love our local library. Their movie selection has increased 100-fold in the last 10 years. They could still have more (I have tried to find quite a few movies that I want to watch, and they don't have them), but they are still pretty awesome. I got SELMA, ALL GOOD THINGS, BOYHOOD, among others in the last while.
11) Being (sort of) careful with Money/God keeping us going with Money
K, this isn't based on the last few days..but I DID just get pd. I am really trying to be a bit more careful with money. That means less magazines, coffee out, etc. And less driving "up the hill" (as we call it around here).
12) Still fairly warm days
It is still HOT (ok, warm) around here. We still have the A/C going sometimes and the fans going nearly all the time. We still (or at least I) don't have any covers on at night, and it has still been very warm. I think it went up to 30C the other day. Not sure on what day it was (Tuesday or Thursday, I think?), but I spent time outside on our swing, which was SO lovely!
13) Items on the 24 Hour Bidding Site/Dollar Store
I have bought a few things off of one of the 24 Hour Bidding Sites in our town, and some of them I have sold or am giving away, but I did get a shredder, which we needed. I also got a few things from the dollar store...those solar things that wave in the sun, socks, a 2016/2017 calendar, and a few other things. I love dollar stores!
14) Carrie Underwood CD coming out (Oct 23)/Big Bang Theory SSN 8(Sept 15)
I heard her new song on the radio, so I figured that she must be putting out a new album soon. And sure enough, she IS!! I am so excited!!! I am also excited that TBBT SSN 8 is coming out on Sept 15th. I am super stoked about that.
15) Mags and Movies bought over the wknd
I was hoping to grab The Best of Me for me, and American Sniper for hubby, but they had upped their price from the last time I was there. So, I found Grease for $5 and Son of God for $5. I am cheap when it comes to movies.

When Blogging Gets/Becomes Too Much/Overwhelming
I love to blog. I do. I love reading blogs. I love "seeing" what people are up to. I have my favourite bloggers that I stalk follow. But somewhere, in btwn the link ups, and the beauty bargain finds, and the perfect children, and the perfect wardrobe, I find it too much. It's not so much that I feel that I can't "keep up" with everyone (though, that IS true, and I have blogged about that as well), but there are JUST so many things that ONE MUST blog about! You know, to stay cool. So that people will come and "visit" you. So that you don't lose followers (though I only have 32).
When I first started this blog, it was because we had just gotten married, and I wanted to document our life. Then it became more of an infertility blog. Then that became boring, b/c, let's face it, who wants to read about a sad, boring couple going through infertility (and ultimately, ending up there/here)? So, I tend to combine a little sadness, with a lot of good (albeit, NOT PERFECT) things. I talk about on how life isn't perfect. I don't have the perfect hair, body, wardrobe, house, etc. We don't go on major vacations, and we don't have a super nice car. Our marriage isn't perfect (far from it), and so I am blogging, essentially, to let the world know that life can be lived with out it being perfect. I have "met" lovely people on here. I have found out that some of my friends have blogs. I got my sister into writing a blog. So, of course, I am happy that I am blogging, and I don't think that I will ever stop.
But sometimes, I think "why bother"? "What's the point"? But not only there, often, there are SO MANY posts that I feel that I must blog about. Of course, there are any number of blog hops/link ups that I like to link up to. Then, I sometimes do my TToT. Then there are the daily, trivial things. Then, I will sometimes talk about this cool makeup that I bought. And I **HAVE** to blog about our trip...and, and, and...like right now, I have 4 or 5 (not even including the Friday Link ups/TToT) blog posts in my drafts that I want do. There's the pictures to add, the labels to add (which, I haven't done in awhile), and the re-arranging of my own blog to do. Then, there's my blog FB page. I am really trying to keep that up. But, I fail. A lot. Then, there is the "visiting". And the commenting. Oh, the commenting. I used to comment a lot... I may start doing it again. I love it when people comment on mine, so of course, I try to comment back. So yes....this blogging business takes up time. And yes, it becomes overwhelming. And it becomes too much at times. It is then that I have take a step back, try to figure out if I can either combine some posts, or just not worry about that topic altogether. Then, like I have just done...taken a few day, or a week (or longer) break. When I really don't "feel" like blogging, or just in a blogging funk, I usually end up reading through some of the MANY blogs that I follow, and that usually gets me out of it, and I get excited about/for blogging again.
Or, I just go back to hanging out on Facebook! Or, I pick up a magazine....or watch TV/movies...or bake.....or...do something, so I CAN blog about it...or IG...or, or, or....:)

Calico/Let's Be Friends Blog Hop
Hello, Friends!
I cannot believe that it is September 10th already! Where has the time gone?
I thought I would combine two posts in one, since I do like to link up with/to a Blog Hop whenever I can (and if it is still open, and if the content pertains to me).
I have been having this subject/post in my drafts for awhile, and I thought I had better get this out there, before it becomes too long, and not really relevant anymore.
If you have been following my blog for awhile, then you know that we had a cat named KitKat. He came with my husband, and I got to love the darn thing (the cat, not my hubby!), despite me not being a huge cat person. We had to put him down last year, and we were in no rush to get another one. We had to heal from saying good bye to KitKat, and to be honest, it was nice to have to worry about having one.
We weren't sure if we were ever going to get another one, but hubby would look on Kijjiji, and I would sometimes peruse some of our city's (and area) Facebook Buy & Sell, Free, etc pages. A couple of months ago, Anker's worker at the Brain Injury Association asked us if we would like a cat. At first we hummed and haa'd, and when he sent us a picture of them, we fell in love with the first one. He had previously told us that she was 3 (she is actually 4), and had all of her shots, was spayed, and was an indoor kitty (which we wanted). We told him that we weren't sure, but as we were going out to Victoria (yet another post I will be doing soon), he sent us the pictures again, and said that we could have her the next week, we decided to say yes. Oh, and another cool thing is that they will pay for some of her vet bills, which is awesome!
So, yes, we are pet parents; a fur-mama/daddy again! We have a fur-baby! Her name is Calico (like her breed), and she is the sweetest thing. She isn't super cuddly, but she is very curious, and definitely loves to be petted. She came with a scratch post/tree, and I am SO GLAD that we took it (he asked if we wanted it, and we weren't sure, but we said "sure, why not"?). She LOVES it, and she is there pretty much 24/7. She also loves our tables, and loves to explore.
It took her awhile to get used to us, and our place, and even eating, drinking, and pooping took her awhile, but once she figured out that we were ok people, and as I say "WE'RE your new Mommy and Daddy now", she has warmed up to us. She has the TINIEST meow, so much so, that it isn't even a meow, it is a squeak! We hardly ever hear her/it, which is totally different to what/how KitKat would "talk" to us. We also joke that she isn't very graceful. She sometimes falls when she tries to jump on her scratch post/bed. Speaking of which, she sleeps there, and not in our bed. I am kind of happy about this, since we will have minimum cat hair on our bed. We still bring her to bed with us, but she usually doesn't stay there very long.
So, that is the new member of our family!! A few people have thought we were silly to get a cat, and while I can see their views, we NEED a cat. We don't have any kids, and Anker needs one, for his health. I will admit that it will be hard to find a place if we end up moving again, since a lot of places don't like cats/pets, but we have her for now, and we shall see what happens in the future.
Here are some pictures of our girl (yes, I do have an entire photo album on Facebook dedicated to her).
This is one of the first (if not the first) picture of her. She spent the first 24 hours behind the toilet. True Story.
This was the second (or one of the first few) picture that I took of her.
She loves her scratch post!!!
Pretty kitty, sitting on our bed!! She was like this when I came home from visiting my brother.
She loves to study!
She also loves to read up on current news and events in our town!
Well, there you have it....the newest member of our family! I am also linking up with Tiffany for:

Show and Tell Tuesdays: Where were you on 9/11
Here is another link up that I have not yet joined. I am probably won't be doing it every week (just like every other link up...I rarely do it EVERY WEEK!), but when I saw the topic, I wanted to join.
This Tuesdays topic was "Where were you on 9/11?"
I was living in Calgary, in my mid 20's, and I was at work. It was around 8 am MST when I heard (so had already happened a couple of hours prior), and I remember having the radio on, and listening to the announcer, saying that a plane had crashed into the WTC. I remember laughing, thinking that was one of those dumb things that you hear (yes, and cause I am also THAT immature like that...lol). Then, when I heard that another plane had crashed, and when everyone else started talking about it (I was working alone, I think, when I first heard), I knew that it was no laughing matter. This was before the Internet was all the rage (at least, in my mind), and long before Faceook, and much longer before Twitter (Thanks for the internet and SM for making our world so small!, but it also brings people together!), so I didn't hear much of it until I got home. I watched the whole thing unfold (not live, obviously), on TV, and I remember feeling really weirded out by the whole thing. I don't I think I knew what to make of it. I think I was sad, then mad. It also happened on my friends birthday (the one who lost her hubby this year), and I remember emailing her, and wishing her a happy birthday, and saying that I am sorry that this horrible thing happened on her special day. I also remember telling her that we shouldn't be racist. I don't remember calling my parents, but I am sure that I did. I am sure that I called a lot of people in those few days.
That night, I was involved in a Bible Study group, where I looked after the kids, while the adults were having their study at the church. I think it was then, that I really started feeling sad. Everyone was crying. We just continued on with the evening, and then I went home. That was the first major attack that involved Terrorism that I remembered (tho I would read later about others...like the Air India attack, etc) and then the term "War on Terror" was coined. Life hasn't been the same since. The world has never been the same. I wouldn't say that I have changed much (at least regarding that), but I do think that it has made me more aware of things; of the world around me. I am more cautious now (especially when I fly, which I think has only been once since then) in small spaces (buses, ferries, or pretty much any major building). I am more keen and aware of my surroundings. I know that it has changed on how people enter countries (for living, travelling), and of course, it has changed travel.
I kept the paper from that day (I found out that there was an "EXTRA" that day, and I wish that I had bought one), until just a year or so ago. I had the PEOPLE Magazine until just awhile back, too. It was such a monumental day in history, that I found it hard NOT to throw them away (but I finally did...and I felt sad..lol). I know that there were (and still are) a lot of questions surrounding that day. There's the Spiritual, the political, but I will say that I am glad that I serve a God that doesn't allow violence, in His name, and I am glad that our countries are keeping us safe (or at least doing their best). FYI: I am not for GT Bay being in operation, nor am I for the torture of prisoners for info (I am not for the torture for ANYONE in prison, btw). And no, I don't think God allowed this, I know He was/is very sad when things like this happen.
Even though we were far away, it affected us; probably the second most (obviously, behind US), along with Mexico. Our country was talking about it; probably like nothing before or since then. We were horrified for all involved. I just did a quick search, and I found out that 24 Canadians died that day (I actually thought it was more). It made our world a little smaller. It gave (and gives us still to this day) something that we all have in common..."Where were you when that happened?". It gave/gives us something to talk about..like this week...in the Blog-iverse! It's bringing us together, even 14 years later...and online/blogging!!!!

Favourite Things: Favourite Summer Moment
I am linking up with Erika for this month's Favorite Things. I think this is the first time that I have linked up for this particular link up, since I don't think I have anything particular favourite item/thing that is on the list. Or maybe, it is just because that I haven't really taken time to really look at the list! Ha!
I was hoping to do up a few posts, then link up those with this one, but I haven't really been much up to/into blogging (and I am feeling that it has become a bit overwhelming, etc), but since it closes in just over 9 hours, I thought I would do a quick post, then hopefully add pics, etc to it later.
So....what is summer? Are they saying that it is from May-October? From June-Sept? While the kids are out of school? Or June 21-Sept 21, the traditional Summer Season? Well, I will often refer to Summer as May - Sept. Ha! Anyway....
Here are some of/our highlights:
1. K, though it technically wasn't summer then, I still consider this part of our summer, b/c well, like I said, summer runs from May-Sept...lol..But we moved! We moved the very end of April, and for the most part, we really do love it.
2. My brother got married in the middle of June, and it was a lovely wknd, filled with lots of fun, food, family, and fellowship! I also got to meet my/our new niece, Lilah, for the first time that wknd.
3. A Surprise birthday party/gift. My friends threw me a surprise birthday party, and they gave me a yard swing. We love it!
4. We went to Victoria in August, and we had a great time. We visited hubs' sister and her family, and I also got to see my brother (just over lunch), and sister-in-law and the girls for an afternoon.
5. We got our new kitty after we came back from holidays. She is a calico, and her name is Calico (yes, I am trying to get a post about her soon). She is 4 yrs old, and adorbs and presh.
...and my/our worst summer moment was (cause you have to have some bad with the good, right?), when my/our friend died suddenly at the end of May. I still can't believe that he is gone. It is just too strange.
So...those are it!! I will try to join up next month, when they talk about favourite scarves.

Weekend Wrap Up/Let's Be Friends Blog Hop
Yes, I am a few days late. LOL. Honestly, there are SO many blog posts/link ups, so little time!!!
I have a few posts to do, so I will try to keep this short (ha!).
Friday, was payday, but since we are a bit short right now, I only put a few bucks on my Starbucks card, and well, that's all I did (and pay rent). I DID get Woman's World, and then went and enjoyed a coffee, while reading magazines, and playing on my phone. I went to work. It was a good shift, which was nice. I left late, as usual. I think I stayed up late, or something..not sure what I did when I came home.
Saturday, I/we didn't do anything all day, and it was heaven (yes, I am usually fairly lazy, but there is something to be said in doing NOTHING all day...ie, watching tv). We got caught up on shows, and then I went to the library, and hubby and I met with my cousin and his wife and their two kids for supper. They took us out, which was great, since we are very short on funds right now. Like, really super short. Anyway, I finally got to me their almost three old daughter, E, and their 2 month old son, J. We had a lovely visit, and we came home and I just chilled in our room. I honestly don't know what I did. I probably Facebooked, and I might have watched a movie.
Sunday, I went to church, and my friend took me for lunch to McD's. I stayed there awhile, and I read magazines. I came home and relaxed, and we watched The Imitation Game, and then I watched Wild, which was ok, and I think I watched another movie, but I can't remember.
All in all, it was a good wknd, though I didn't get much done.
Also...am linking up with this wks Let's Be Friends Blog Hop (again, a few days late):
