Happy Monday!
Linking up with Leeanne @ Join the Gossip for this weeks MMG :)
I hope your weekend was better than mine, b/c to be honest, mine/ours kind of sucked.
Let's digress, shall we?
Friday, I got paid, which was great, but after getting a few things, I only had a few dollars left. EEK! I ran to Tim Horton's to grab some coffee, read and have a snack.
FYI: Their Maple Biscuit is amazing. Just sayin. Because we don't have a lot of money, I only bought one magazine...Woman's World. Love it. I met up with our new Pastor (of Students and Youth/Young Adults)'s wife, at Starbucks. We had a nice time. Then I grabbed something to eat for us. I found a $20 deal at Little Caeser's. With us, it is a good deal, b/c two pizzas can last us a few meals. And I also got chicken wings. And garlic bread. Yum. I had a bath that night, and as I was coming out of the bathroom, I noticed that a leak that had been fixed years back, has now started leaking. Oh goody. 3 hours and 4 (soaked) towels later, it got dealt with. Sort of. I also did a couple of loads of laundry. I ended the day (more about that in another post), with watching a classic "Look Who's Talking".
Saturday, we just relaxed in the morning, and I had a few errands to run, then I met up with my lady friends from church. It turned out just only two of us meeting up, which was ok. She bought me lunch, which was sweet of her. I went to the library, and then I went to the park to read for a bit. The weather was so nice, and I wanted to enjoy it before I no longer can. I ended up spending some time with my aunt, and we went to the dog park, to allow Cassie to run, then to McD's to share some fries and talk. I was still having a bit of a rough time with it, and it was nice to talk with her about what is going on. Came home at around 8:30. I folded the laundry, and went on the computer, and went to bed.
Sunday; my aunt and I went to church with some of her friends who were trying it out, and coincidentally, where my friends go to church. It was actually nice to try a new church for a change. It was a wonderful service (again, will talk about it in another post). Came home and ate dinner, and went on the computer and then had a nap. Watched the first half of a movie, and then hung out with my aunt again. She brought me some pie she had made; peach pie..YUM! and we also shared fries again and talked in the van. I came home and relaxed and finished off the movie and started another one. I changed our sheets, and switched duvet covers. I journalled, read a magazine, talked with Anker and went to bed.
Well, that was my wknd. It wasn't exciting, but it had some ok moments.

Currently
Linking up with Jenna for another issue of Currently.
Watching// Call the Midwife Season 3, and whatever else I have on loan from the library. I also want to get caught up on Hot In Cleveland Seasons 3 and 4.
Excited about// A new-to-us Cappicino machine that we bought today from our local thrift store. It didn't work, so hubby fixed it. A drink that cost under a dollar. The machine cost $15
Reading// Too many magazines than is healthy. I am a bit of a magazine addict. Ugh.
Thinking About/Of// Thanksgiving. Yes, in Canada it is NEXT MONTH!!! I am very excited to see our niece. Oh, and my other siblings, too.
Missing// My sister is who is Far, Far Away. Thankfully, we have Skyped a few times. I am also missing our kitty lately. Especially at nighttime.
Listening To// My husband yelling at his computer...and Jack Ingram and Josh Turner CDs from the library, and Oceans (the song we sang yesterday in church) on YT.
Loving// Yoga Pants. And my hoody.
Changing// Our sheets and I also changed our duvet cover. I had hoped to buy a new fall-coloured one, but we just can't afford it right now.
Leaning On// Jesus. And the Food Bank.

Sunday Social
Happy Sunday!
Linking up with Ashley for this weeks SS.
1. What is your favorite magazine to read?
In case you clearly don't know me, I am a bit of a magazine addict. I love magazines. I love People, US Weekly, and Woman's World. I love lots of others, too, though; Redbook, Cosmopolitan, Glamor, and Good Housekeeping, to name a few.
2. What is the best thing you’ve seen online lately?
Not sure what kind of a question this is...I have no idea...I did like that guy that was talking about his mom, that I think is pretty sweet. Can't find the link right now, though.
3. What is your favorite celebrity to follow on Instagram or Twitter?
IG: Trista Sutter, and Ivanka Trump (mostly bc their pictures always end up on my feed a lot).
Twitter: I have no clue. I love following People Magazine. And any of the Y&R cast that is on there.
4. Is there one article of clothing no matter what the season you can’t help but love?
Yoga Pants. And PJ's.
5. Do you prefer email or snail mail?
I used to pen pal about 50 people (not at one time, but since I was 13 until I got Facebook), now I hardly ever even do email, except if I am looking for work, or asking about getting free stuff from local businesses. But I love a hand written letter or card once in awhile.

Weekend Wrap Up/Monday Morning Gossip Link Up
Happy Tuesday!
I am a little late in joining Join The Gossip for this weeks Monday Morning Gossip, but since it's still open to link up, I thought I would link up (and blog about) our weekend.
Friday; hubby finished fixing the car! Yay! I had a very nice relaxing day, then I went to work. It was a good shift. We had a very yummy supper; grilled chicken on top of Caeser salad. Yum. Came home; relaxed and went to bed.
Saturday; We got up around 8 or so and went to the next town over to buy a fish, as one of the local Indian Bands were there selling them. We got a HUGE one for $20. Yum. Dropped it off at home, and then went over to pick up H to go to the corn maze. His parents came, too, which was nice. We sat and visited and had a bit of lunch, then it was off to the corn maze. You can read about it here. We came home and had a nice relaxing afternoon. We had the fish for supper and watched both the first and second Smurf movies, which were actually quite good.
Sunday; went to church, and then I dropped hubby off and went to a friends for lunch (he didn't feel like going). We had hot dogs, veggies, chips, and great conversation. I ended up going to the park, and spending some time in the sun, and reading. It was a lovely day.

I finally got started on the new Danielle Steel book. I also FINALLY finished the other one of hers. Came home and had a relaxing evening. We watched The Amazing Race Canada, and then ended up watching another (sort of new) show. I had watched one epi last year, but I couldn't seem to get into it. Then hubby decided that he liked it, so he started watching it, and so I got into it. I looked through some of my magazines that needed to go back to the library, and just relaxed.
It was a wonderful weekend!!
Corn Maze!
I have a few blog posts that I have in my mind that I want to write, but I want to write about our time we had at the corn maze on Saturday.
I am trying to find some fun places (for kids, couples, families) that we can do this fall/winter. I had contacted a local Farm that has a corn maze to see about tickets, times, etc. Since. I also wanted to bring H, we decided (finally) to go on Saturday. His mom and dad decided to come, too. It was a perfect day, and it wasn't even busy, which made it even better.
Tranquille Farm Fresh is a local farm that first started as a sanitarium (that coincidentally both my great aunt and uncle went to for awhile when the contracted TB), then became a Mental Institution (their words, not mine), and since has become a farm/town of sorts. There are about 100 buildings, either not being lived in (most of them aren't liveable), including three old hospitals, and of course, lots of farm land, perfect for corn mazes!!! Kamloops has been trying to make into an attraction of sorts, and the corn maze is one of them, being only in their 3rd year.
We wanted to get there earlier, but we ended doing running to the next town over (more on that in another post) to grab a fish, and by the time we got to their house, it was lunch time, and we didn't get there until 1. Having never been there before, I didn't really know what to expect, but the whole area was SO pretty. I actually have driven by there, but have never actually gone in.
The farm is a few km's past our local airport, so it was a nice little drive. The leaves are just starting to turn, too, so it made the drive even prettier.
We arrived and we first went and looked around the market. It was in an old stable, which was really cool. They even have a kids play area!!
We thought about getting some corn, but it was a bit too expensive for us. Plus we have free corn from my parents'. It did look good, though.
No GMO'd food here!!! We didn't buy any produce, but it was fun to look at.
The outside of the market. I love that it is inside, in case of cool weather.
Then it was off to the corn maze. H loved to run around, and he kept asking "what colour was the farm". It was really sweet.
We're here!
I loved the pretty chairs. This is actually the exit.
How they made the corn maze.
The entrance. They were cattle (or we thought pig) gates.
How they made the maze. They go to a lot of work each year.
It's a jungle in there!
The corn looked good enough to eat, but it wasn't. LOL
It was really fun!!
Through the corn maze.
One of the old buildings.
Through the corn stalks.
Purple tassels.
Not-so-yummy corn, but it made for a great picture!
Anker broke a few rules. LOL
Ornamental cherry tree.
There were signs telling the story of some of the founding people of Kamloops. It was such an awesome idea.
We made it!
A couple of extra pictures of/in the corn maze.
The people there are very knowledgeable, and answered any questions we had. They are open during the weekends only, from 9-5, and they also have Tunnel Tours for $25 where you can go below the buildings and property, and they even have a theatre production, which sounds really fun. They also run Heritage Tours for $20/person. We would both love to go back sometime this fall. They also have an October Corn Maze Extravangaza, which runs just before Halloween, and I would love to go back then, too, but we shall see if time and money will allow it. It sounds like an absolute blast, though.
Everyone loved it, and H had SO MUCH fun running around, and he didn't even get tired. I think any longer, though, and he would have gotten a bit tired. Or not. That kid totally surprises us all. I brought sandals, which I shouldn't have done. Definitely shoes are in order. Anker was very impressed by it, and it it's length (he thought it was going to be short, like the one we went to at our local zoo a few years back), which was good to hear. I think A, K, and H had a good time, too. I loved on how there was lots of history to read along the way. The maze itself was really cool. There was lots of extra little "off paths", which made it kind of fun, but it is hard to get lost. They also have paths that are ribboned off, so people do get lost, and walk IN the corn stalks (I think). It's very hard to lose your children. I would also suggest that you don't bring strollers, buggies, walkers and wheelchairs. I think it would be very hard to push them, due to the roughness of the path, and the corn stalks strewn around. But that is just me; a person certainly could if they wanted to. But the whole property is very wheelchair, buggy, walker, and stroller accessible. If I remember correctly, they do have specialized parking.
All in all, I am VERY glad I was able to go. Hubs and I had a great time, and loved that my brother and his family could join us.
Here are some extra pictures from the farm.
An old fire truck.
Not sure exactly what this building was, but I think the tunnels are under here?
Everyone says this place is haunted.
Another old building.
I think this is one of the hospitals?
A picture perfect farm. Love it.
These pictures are from an old stable that they have now made into a presentation (sorry, I can't think of the correct word at the moment) of the farm in the past, and their Urban Planning of/for the future. They had some things that we could look at and touch, which was neat.
From the stable looking out onto some of the farm.
The beautiful fall colours.
I love round bales.
It was a wonderful afternoon, filled with lots of memories, and another place in town that we been to and were able to visit. I would definitely go back again!!
****Disclaimer*** We were given a family pass (though we had to pay for A and K), and these opinions are all my own.
