Sunday Social

Linking up with Ashley today for this week's Sunday Social.

1. How much time do you spend on Social Media a day?...be honest
Completely depends on the day. If I am working and/or have errands, then not a lot...but if I have a day where I am doing nothing, then way too much. I mostly spend it on Facebook, but I also enjoy Twitter, IG, and of course, blogging, So, honestly, it could be up to 8 hours a day (on and off, of course).

2. How long were you reading blogs before you started a blog?
Not sure, probably a few years?

3. What is your favorite kind of cupcake?
Not a bit cupcake (or regular cake) fan, but I do love chocolate, or anything with some kind of custard or berry filling in the middle. Oh, and lots of icing.

4. Do you eat fast food? If so whats your favorite?
Yes, too much, sadly. I love McDonald's and Wendy's, but I also like Subway.
5. What is the most random thing someone would find in your purse?
I have a lot of weird things in my purse (I gotta clean it), but I think the weirdest thing would be a record/schedule of People of US Weekly mags that I have read.

6. What is the weirdest TV show you watch?
Probably S*X Sent me to the ER, and Outrageous 911 Calls

Five On Friday & SUYL: Reading Lists

Welcome to another edition of Five on Friday!! I am linking up with the girls as usual to tell you my fav and best things of the week!

1.Our new Pantry

Hubs and I went out last Saturday to grab a pantry. We have such a small kitchen, and shelving is at a premium. We also like to buy in bulk (esp nuts and candy), so I also went to the dollar store to grab some containers. I already am loving the results.
Here are a few pictures of what I have been doing this week...

2, My new phone. I actually got this the end of February. I LOVE it!!! I love that I an add applications. I AM LOVING my apps!!!
The apps that I have are..Starbucks, Twitter, FB, My Fitness Pal (I LOVE it!!), TWN, Canadian Diabetes GPS app, Gas Buddy, Pinterest (does anyone even use that anymore??), IG, CTV GO app, WebMD, YouVersion Bible App, CBC Olympic App, Mahjong, People Magazine App, and BCAA (like AAA) App. I love them all. I may do a post just on my favourite apps alone :)

3. SPD Socks, Big Pay Chq
Aren't they cute?? I am wearing a pair right now.  Plus I have two pairs from last year.
I also got a big cheque today, I am so stoked. I may or may not go out and get a few CD's and TBBT, and GA, and maybe even DA. MAYBE. Yes, I love money!!!

4. Spring Duvet Cover.
I bought this on Saturday at Jysks when we got the Pantry. I love it.
I love that all my sheets all match!! I also may get the lavender sheet that matches the ones of the colours on the duvet.

5.  The Big Bang Theory.
I seem to be on a BBT kick these days. I am watching when reruns come on TV, and having it on when I go to bed at night on my laptop. I am very happy to hear that it has been renewed for three more years!!! I definitely love this show!!!!

5.1. Dinner out with Anker
Anker and I don't go out for dinner much. Oh sure, we will bring home food from McD's and the occasional Chinese Food or pizza, but as far as going out (even for Fast Food), we don't do it much. So, when Anker suggested that we go to Boston Pizza last night for supper, well, he didn't have to ask me twice! We both LOVE BP. I love their pizza bread..yum! I have been actually craving it the last few days, which is odd, b/c Anker didn't even know that when he suggested we go there. I had pizza bread.
For the main dish, I had their seafood fettuccine. I ate as much as I could, then I brought the rest home.
And for dessert, we had our favourite..Chocolate Explosion...it is heaven on a plate...let me me tell you!
With soft drinks, dessert and tips, it cost us over $60! (which is why we don't go out much) But it was a great evening..completed by watching TBBT and GA!!

This week, on SUYL Kelly is doing what we are reading...here is my original post from November.  Along with those that I am still trying to read, I seem to only be reading magazines lately. I buy a lot, but I also get a lot from the library.  I know that it probably seems kind of shallow of me, I mean, shouldn't EVERY Christian woman have some sort of Lysa Teurkest book on the go? I just don't have the mind and patience for ANY book these days. I also would like to finish The Christian Athiest, as it is a good book, and easy and short to read. So, that is the exciting bit that is my reading list.

A Random Post

I thought I had better do a blog post other than a link up one, and I actually had a few things to write about, and I want to write :)

We are doing pretty well. Since I have been working (more on that in a bit), things have been a bit better. Anker is also getting EI, and we are hoping to get him on disability soon. Anker hasn't been feeling all that well, but he does have his good days. Between his hip, back, his IBS, he is usually not feeling well about every other day. We do manage to get out a couple of times a week to run errands, etc. On Tuesday, we went out to get a new modem, to renew our insurance, and grabbed some groceries. I know, exciting, right? I do try to take him out for coffee, Starbucks, etc, but he usually responds with "but I just had coffee at home". LOL.

Work is going well. I worked (or in relation to work) every day last week, and I was so tired by the weekend. It was a great week, though. I am loving (for the most part) my job! It is such a great set up for me. I actually don't even know if I want to have a position, as I like just picking my times I want to work, and not have a set schedule. I do know that if/when I get a position, I would get benefits. So, I can definitely see the positives of both sides.

The sun is shining, and it is warm!!! I love it!!! I am happy that the -degree weather is behind us (well, I hope so, anyway). The snow could leave any day, too.

I am also trying not so very hard to eliminate sugar from my diet. I should anyway, since I am a diabetic, but I am feeling SO tired all the time, and I am thinking that now would be a good time to try it as an experiment.

I got a new phone (which I will talk about in my FoF tomorrow). I love it!!! I also love it now that I am not using my data. It wouldn't connect to our modem, so I was using up all my data. Thankfully, we have a new one, so no more data usage! I am having fun downloading apps!!! (again, more on that tomorrow) This has much more memory, so now I can have more apps, and have more fun on my phone. I seem to be turning in a real phone junky. I have to have it with me (or at least know where it is) all.the.time. It is sad, really. I am almost  expecting that there be free WiFi everywhere I go. Do you know that Walmart has it, now?

On Saturday, Anker and had an errand day, and bought a Pantry cupboard. We spent a couple of hours putting it together, which was kind of fun. I am also having fun organizing our kitchen. Most everything is in it's new place, except for the spices.

Hubby and I watched Captain Phillips on Saturday night, which was a great movie. I also watched We're the Millers, which was dumb. On Sunday, I went to church alone, and then grabbed a coffee, and watched Non Stop, which is a great movie!!! I love Liam Neesson!! He is so dreamy!! (FYI, also watch Taken, which is another good movie, and I also want to watch Taken 2). Just spent the rest of Sunday evening hanging out and relaxing. I actually don't remember what I did. Last Sunday, we watched the Oscars. I loved it!!

So the other night, I was feeling like making a real dinner. You know the kid where you have to dirty up dishes,  and actually make something from nothing? Hubby wanted tacos, but I had already taken chicken out, so I decided to combine the two. I decided to make chicken enchiladas. They were very good, and very cheesy. So good!
This is the recipe that I found on, you guessed it, Pinterest.  It was really good, and even Anker liked it. I pretty much stuck to the recipe, but I didn't have any chiles, so I used some taco sauce or something (It was in an unmarked package, but it was red, and smelled taco-like. It didn't poison us, so I guess it was safe. I also used different cheese than it called for, as I didn't have any Monterey Jack cheese. I used cheddar and Mozzerella. I probably will use a bit less cheese next time, as it was a bit too chewy, and a bit too salty. Still have have lots of leftovers, so I think we will be having it all weekend. Oh, I would would either use smaller tortilla shells, or I would just cut them in a half, as they are a bit too large.

I paired it with a green salad, and salsa (and you could probably put more sour cream with it, but there was already too much to add more on the side). It was so good!!!

More tomorrow!!!

Five on Friday, and SUYL: The Awkward Years

Happy Friday, Friends!!

I didn't link up last week, b/c well, I think I forgot, then I didn't feel like it, then the week just got away on me. I hope you all had a good week! Mine was good, but BUSY!!!  I am ready for the weekend! That being said, it is either feast for famine around here...I am either working LOTS, or not working at all. I worked lots the last 8 days, then I have only 3 more shifts (after today's shift) this month. I hope I get more.

So, here we go for this wks FoF

1. I am a Union Member for the first time EVER! I even have a card to prove it. I feel so proud and grown up! Even my little sister was in a union before me. I had to ask her some questions.

2. Starbucks' new Maple Macchiato. Oh.My.Goodness. This is amazing. I loooove maple! I am also enjoying the Macchiato's in general, b/c they aren't that sweet. I walked into the store yesterday, and I when I saw this on their board, I HAD to get it.

3. My new Shoes. Last week, I got another pair of running shoes. I am a bit of a shoe freak. Yes, even the "boring" running shoes I kind of love.  They aren't as comfy as my Soucany's but they are still pretty good. Plus, they match my coat.
4. My Job. This wk has been BUSY with work. Every day I did something; I worked three days (including today), and I had training one day, and a staff mtng yesterday. And yes, I got paid for ALL of it!! So, next wks Paychq is gonna be Su-saweet!! I also love the staff I work with. They are so nice and kind.

5. New shows are back! The Little Couple and Amazing Race!! I may or not may not be into the Bachelor this season.

I am linking up with Kelly for this weeks SUYL.

She is asking us all to link up and talk about our "awkward" years. To be honest, other than the fashion, I didn't feel that awkward. Maybe it was the fact that we live (d) on a farm, in the country, and were homeschooled. I dunno. I loved my teen years (for the most part). I was a bit sullen at times, though, and I did struggle with worry (another post, maybe?), and some health issues (which I now know is PCOS), among other times. I would stay in my room for HOURS listening to music (I guess today's equivalent to being on the computer, etc). But other than that, I really did have a good growing up. However, I did fall prey to the horrible fashion of the 80's and 90's. I mean, geez..what were we all thinking???

Me at grad. Even though we were home-educated, Mom did give us a party. I had a friend sew this dress. Geez...how hideous is this? I do love the colour, though...and am happy that it is back in. Mom called me the other to ask what we should do with it. I don't even think our thIrift shop would want it. LOL. I did feel beautiful at the time, though, so that was the important thing!!!
Me and my friend Jill. This isn't horrible, but still, not the greatest. I don't know how old I was here...maybe 15 or 16?
To be fair, this isn't horrible. I was in my early 20's here. I love this picture of Vienna and I. Mom's hair is..well, interesting..lol.
There are simply no words for this. I feel prey to the spiral perm. I also had braces (top only, thank goodness...and clear ones..yay), but look at the shoulder pads!!!

Me and Vienna, probably in 1994 or '96. Apparently, she needed new matching PJ's (although, to be fair, I guess that fad is back in now, and I will often wear mismatching PJ's.).
Me and my cousin, Heather in 1990. Again, there are no words! All of these dresses (bridesmaid) were hand made...but hey...they looked good at the time!!! Oh, and there is my awful perm again..lol.
Me and my friend Christine in 1990. My perm again...lol.

Officially, this isn't my teens years, but look at my horrible glasses!!! At least my hair is ok, and the dress isn't too bad.

I haven't been into blogging much lately. I hope to get back into this week. I already have a list started up for NEXT Friday!!!

A Little Catch Up & A Small Rant(and a Surprise!)

Howdy! Well, as my aunt says, "I'm so far behind, I'm ahead", so I think I will take a page from her play book and just st...
